Jimney is a proper body on frame SUV with a low range transfer case, solid axles front and back with coils. This platform is inherently heavier than the monoquoqe platform of the Brezza. The 1.2 is too weak for even the larger monoquoqe vehicles from Maruti and barely makes enough power/torque to get these moving at an acceptable pace. The Jimney would completely collapse with a 1.2 engine.

I seriously don't think that a 7-seat Jimny is under development since with the size restrictions, 7 seat Jimny will be cramped AF, both in terms of seating space and boot space. Plus since there have been no insights about this earlier, this article seems like nothing but just something done for increasing website views!

If the Suzuki samurai made in Spain with 6 seats (very rare car) was pretty tight, how are they gonna make to fit 3 more seats in a 28cm shorter car??

Maruti Suzuki's upcoming Jimny, shows its interiors:



- Likely to get a 9" infotainment unit on higher variants while lower variants to get seven-inch screen
- The spied model had circular AC vents and possibly an analogue instrument cluster.
- To get auto AC, cruise control and touchscreen central display from the three-door model.
- Notice the Baleno-like steering wheel on the off-roader
- To retain the analogue dials in the instrument cluster and the circular AC knobs on both sides.

Konnichiwa, is it true that car manufacturers PR teams follow the social media for public interest or response for upcoming car launch or is it just a coincidence that after my "long time, no see" post; a number of Jimny sighting videos surfaced!

Whatever, I guess Jimny fans got some visuals to analyse further. Yesterday I enquired about pre-booking to my known SA of a NEXA showroom. He said- no news about Jimny, no booking started yet.

Meanwhile, I am keeping myself satisfied grabbing the co-passenger's seat in some Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Sportero, Nissan Navara, X-trail etc. in Bangladesh. 4H makes the life easy to roam around on sand surface. In the capital city (Dhaka) I could see few very sharp looking Toyota cars, not very big size. I couldn't notice the model name though.

Why can't we have these models of cars in India?

This looks like the road towards Manali from Patlikuhl, just before Rangri.
Did you spot this in November? I spotted one in October on this same road .

Hope they bring out the three-door version also even if it is in limited numbers.

Does anyone else feel that the 5 door Jimmy takes away the soul of the original 3 door Jimny? The 5 door looks too bulky unnecessarily whereas the 3 door just looked perfect and cute.

They are not going to give us the booster jet or the 1.5 lit engine anyways and with the puny 1.2 lit this will be yet another slow and laggy Maruti unfortunately.

I really hoped that they give us the 3 door which would have been a fun car.

Well i am quite besieged with the concept of a 5 door Jimny as it can be a useful 3rd vehicle in my garage which anyone in my household can use easily.

As far as the engine is concerned , it has been confirmed to be using a K15B 1.5 litre engine with a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed torque converter automatic. I am highly doubtful that the 3 door might be even launched in limited quantities even for enthusiasts . Thar as a 3 door works because of its historic appeal in India but if this car is launching as "Jimny" instead of "Gypsy" its going to be a 5 door SUV with 4x2 and 4x4 versions .
