Amaze is truly a great car. It's refined and reliable petrol engine along with a cvt makes it a very good compact sedan. Truly a vfm car.

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 4 lakh mark

It always amazes(no pun intended) me that this car has not been selling a million units by now considering who its rivals are and what this product brings to the table. This is the only sedan this side of 10 lakhs on sale right now that is safe enough and reliable enough with a trusted powertrain in both petrol and diesel and proven long term reliability.

The only reason I didn't include this in my list 2 years ago was Honda dealer shutting shop for 2 years here. But also at over 6 ft tall I wasn't sure it was a good fit for my ingress and egress. I had to extradite myself out of a Rapid like Leonardo Dicaprio did out of his Lamborghini in the Wolf of Wall Street.

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

Amaze is such a wonderful car with a lot of options. Adequately powered Petrol and well powered diesel, and proper automatic options on both engines. With 4 star safety and the biggest boot in the segment, amaze is the best compact sedan in India. I hope they don't stop the model.

Amaze deserves this and more.

Although not a fan of this car, am happy its selling well(along with City) will probably make sure HONDA doesn't shut shop and leave us owners(of other not-so-popular models) hanging.

Wish they bring in the HRV(to compete in the hot CSUV segment) or atleast plonk the diesel CVT in the WRV and make some progress in terms of numbers in the market

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

I had taken a TD of amaze way back in 2013 and if I am not wrong, their famed Diesel engine made its debut on this car. Its interior(dashboard layout) was such as turn off that my family outright rejected the car. Also build quality was definitely weak compared to bigger sibling City or Jazz. Car definitely underwent multiple facelifts and looks more mature now. Diesel + CVT is one of the most unique combos I have heard of. Did it deserve to sell so much, YES!! did it deserve much higher sales ? Well I never understood if Honda has any strategy for our market.

It's just poor marketing and sales effort by Honda. The car has so much potential yet the response at the dealership is too moot to say the least. My friend was looking for compact sedan, the response from Honda was not at all enthusiastic, the sales people looked demotivated, Deccan Honda showroom looks deserted, no knowledgeable people that time to answer all the questions. Final outcome - a grey maruti Dezire.

Same happens with me, i want to trade in my city with new e-hev. At Deccan Honda pimpri No display car, no TD vehicle, no substantial knowledge of product, no timeline on availability either.SA just blamed non supply by Honda.Really a lost opportunity.

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

Amaze (and Jazz) really deserves to sell a lot more. But Honda & it’s dealers make every effort to make sure that it sells stay low. Today if you go to a Honda dealer asking about diesel Amaze, they will just discourage you so much that you won’t go back to them. Sir, diesel is made only on order now and takes a long time, you should consider petrol, who buy diesels now and blah blah! Result, the diesel loving customer will go and buy a diesel i20 or Altroz.

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

Happy for Honda and happy for Amaze.

I got my first 4 wheeler bought from my own money as Honda Amaze SX diesel back in 2014. This weekend, the car has completed 1.11 lakh kms on the odo and it has never gone to the service centres for any issue/niggle. It just keeps on running with regular services done from authorised service centres. Paid only 6430 INR for the 1.10L service.

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

Though started as a economy model to compete with Maruti, soon realized the value of Honda image and resurrected itself as a feature loaded model with the second gen. Good to see the sales but it has more potential especially with desire sales for reference.

This should give more confidence to Honda India to build more models (SUV) on the amaze platform

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

I had a chance to get into a display model of the Amaze when my car was being serviced.
It did gave me the impression of one of the best VFM cars in the market. I was really amazed at how neatly packaged it is with everything in the interior, in terms of both features and space. And my reference was the latest City which is a very unfair comparison.

So I'm actually surprised that it doesn't sell even more by our standards. Is it because of it's body type in this era of crossovers/psuedo-SUVs I'd never understand but the Dzire seems to have a larger share in the market. I don't see the Dzire as its rival though, it's either the sub compact crossovers or the 'Taxi' tag that affected it. It is a really good family car and should be on the list of every buyer who's looking for a sub 10 lakh rupees car with maximum space, comfort, and features. All things mentioned, still happy for this achievement as its sales kind of calmed me down when the rumours of Honda shutting shop were in full swing.

Re: Honda Amaze sales cross the 5 lakh unit mark

For all those wondering why, I recently visited Honda to get an amaze diesel.

We all know how many cars they are selling. What's their production capacity is and which all models are getting axed soon.

I was offered 0 discounts on amaze diesel and was quoted a 2 months waiting period despite persuasion, they haven't budged an inch. We already know they are hardly moving their products and they have a ton of inventory.

I agree honda makes good cars, but somehow seemed their attitude towards customers is different.

Booked an i20 D through acko yesterday. Not sure whether i will finalize it or not, but just want to be on the Queue wagon.

I wonder how they had been surviving with their mediocre sales and wonder how they are going to survive this market with AckoDrive and other online dealers.

Honda Cars India is celebrating 10 years of the Amaze in India. Over 5.3 lakh units have been sold since its introduction in April 2013.
