Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

Tata removes Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

As per an article on V3Cars (which tends to be pretty reliable) - TaMo has removed the rear wash+wipe function across all variants of the Nexon's upcoming minor facelift in 2022.

V3Cars Scoop - Tata Removes rear wash+wipe from Nexon

I sincerely hope this is not true. If its true - the Nexon would be a permanent NO if I were out shopping. For any hatchback - this is a must have feature over anything else inside the cabin that is for comfort.

Here I am wishing that the ministry mandates rear wipers on all hatchbacks & SUVs - and here is TaMo - supposedly removing such a vital feature from a car that touches 15 lakhs OTR .

If true - shame on you Tata Motors. Good luck destroying the single car that is bringing you all the profits.
If not - shame on you V3Cars for publishing such a click-bait.

It will be an absolute shame if this were the case. A company whose calling card is safety has no business removing such an essential safety feature.

Re: Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

Rear Wash Wipe is a vital feature for me and I can't drive without it. My earlier Polo Highline and my current Swift ZXI have it. Nexon is one of those cars I was targeting on my next shopping list but if it is truly enforced by TATA, then will leave it. In fact I agree that this feature should be mandated in all cars. It is particularly helpful in ensuring a safe drive during rainy and dusty weather.

How much money are they planning to save by removing this. I can understand keeping this as a premium variant offering but removing from the entire line-up makes no sense.

I hope I am wrong, but unfortunately, it does seem like that. The rear wash and wipe doesn't show up in the results of the "Compare features" utility on the Nexon website, even if you compare the top 2 most expensive variants. It's usually before or after the rear defogger in most lists, but is conspicuous by its absence here. See below screenshot from the "Safety & Security" section. Neither is it present in the "Comfort & Convenience" section. Not a good move. Not at all a good move.

Funny thing is, all the photos on their website show a Nexon with a rear wiper.

Re: Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

Other than a sedan, all vehicles do need a rear wash and wipe feature, be it a hatchback, CSUV, SUV or MUV. I consider it an active safety device.

If the above news is true, it's criminally negligent on part of Tata to be indulging this kind of "penny wise-pound foolish" behaviour. Disappointing!

I would never buy a car without rear wash/wipe. It's so integral to safety. Tata could be saving Rs 3000 from this exercise, at most.

Re: Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

When you’re getting 14-15k sales a month and success goes into your head, this nonsensical cost-cutting is what comes out!

And if the Nexon is losing the rear wiper then soon the other cheaper offerings will lose it as well…

Re: Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

Does the top variant still come with those useless wearable keys? Who is incharge of taking such silly decisions?

Rear wiper should have been made mandatory along with the rear parking sensors by the goverment to make these car makers provide this essential feature.

Re: Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

I doubt if they would do such a thing. Defeats common sense especially since it was usually available on the topmost(XZ and XZ+) trims only. So the point on reducing costs on the top models doesn't add up, IMHO.

Re: Has Tata removed Rear Wash-Wipe from all Nexon variants?

Nexon already has poor IRVM visibility due to the rear wind shield. If they are going to remove the rear wiper /washer, why have the rear windshield at all. Best selling SUV for a while, and the Tata gives a chance for criticism.

Doesn't Nexon go close to/or even above 16 OTR for petrol and 17 OTR for diesel top end AMT ones (at least in cities like Bengaluru).
