That is a steep hike, taking OTR for L&K all the way upto ~ 50 big ones (including extended warranty, zero dep etc.). A big dampner - I would now wait for the discounts to kick in - Patience is the key here I feel.

Wow . Skoda is either being super optimistic or may be they just know the target customer doesn’t care about 3 lakhs hike

Re: 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Review | 2.0L Petrol DSG

They were already hiked by 1L or so post the launch. Hardly anyone got the car at the launch price (which was applicable only till April I think). I had booked one 2 days after the launch on January 10th and got a call for delivery last week.

I had already cancelled my booking by then, the price hike post launch became an issue for me as well.

That’s a mammoth increase. Not that it matters when you are spending that much. But it makes the value proposition even lower now. But this is a clear indicator where the prices are heading. Like someone said earlier on this thread, patience is key. If not in a hurry, wait. There will be discounts in a few months for sure.

More Kodiaq's for India

Quote:
Zac Hollis : Excited to share that we are opening bookings of the new KODIAQ for Q1 2023. We will announce phase-wise booking for the rest of the 2023 volumes. The outstanding response to the KODIAQ shows that customers look at ŠKODA as the ultimate in value luxury.

What a coincidence. 2 hours before the Tucson launch, Skoda decides to relaunch the Kodiaq bookings that too for 2023. Talk about future planning. lol.

This also has given Hyundai a free hand with the Tucson thanks to the massive 2.5L price bump.

Our Tucson review should be live soon and one thing for sure after driving it, Skoda better be worried that customers don't jump ship while waiting for Kodiaq in 2023.

Re: Skoda Kodiaq bookings reopen in India

Actually the comparison made in the opening post is with the launch price. Skoda had increased the prices by 1 lakh post the launch, so effectively the increase as reported by autocar is 1.5 lakhs over the prevailing prices.

I checked with my SA and it seems the revised prices have not got percolated to this dealership at the very least. They have not been communicated about any hikes yet. Whatever the case be, given the sellers’ market we are in, the price on delivery would prevail.

Haven't seen a single car yet in person on the roads. What happened to all the 2022 bookings?

Re: Skoda Kodiaq bookings reopen in India

It is usually (but not always) the segment leader that shows the way, and the rest of the market follows. As an example, Maruti was the best possible brand to popularize AMTs in India. In the 15-20 lakh space, the Creta (midsize) and XUV700 (L size) dictate terms and show what the market really wants.

In the 40-lakh SUV segment, the Fortuner is solely responsible for raising overall prices. Toyota dominates the segment, and has pushed the pricing envelope higher & higher. The fully-loaded Fortuner now costs a whopping 55-lakhs OTR Mumbai. Bangalore is even higher. Everyone else gets tempted by fat profits and hence, we see overpriced Kodiaqs & Tucsons.

Mercedes is doing exactly the same thing in the luxury space.

They’re all the same. I recall Hyundai announced something concrete about the Tucson just when the Meridian was launched. Of course the timeline was a bit closer in that case. This is Skoda opening bookings for 2023 deliveries in early August. Ridiculous!!

If anything, their price hike will only push people to strongly consider the Tucson although Hyundai also queered that pitch just a bit with its pricing.

Its an interesting 3 way battle now between the Tucson, Meridian and Kodiaq / Tiguan. I really hope Jeep doesn’t hike its pricing. If you ask me, the updated Kodiaq price (combined with immediate unavailability) and the Tucson’s rich pricing create some positive ripples for Jeep in pushing the Meridian. Of course the 2022 Tucson is a very compelling product in itself and (lack of) VFM pricing aside, has a lot of the other factors going for it that attract Indian buyers. Let’s see how market share settles between these three (four).

Re: Skoda Kodiaq bookings reopen in India

Zac Hollis mentioned in an interview that the vehicle will be identical to the currently launched version with maybe some minor tweaks. Any clues as to what could they be tweaking? I am sincerely hoping that the tweaks are to add new stuff and not to take away existing features.

One key "tweak" I am hoping for is a 10+ inch infotainment screen as opposed to the 8 inch one on the current version.

I think Creta and XUV700 are dictating terms in good way. But fortuner is setting a very dangerous trend, which might even lure Creta and XUV700 prices to keep rising.

Fortuner pricing is very much responsible for Mahindra to launch XUV700 with all the bells and whistles and ScorpioN at such prices. Top end XUV700 and ScorpioN are not cheap (though still vfm). Had Fortuner pricing been sane, Mahindra would have never risked to launch both SCORPIO-N and XUV at such prices.
