Well - if anyone is responsible for this - its us consumers. Toyota or anybody for that matter - can sell the car at that price, because there is a long waiting list even for that price. If people are willing and easily able to pay the asking price - why not make profit then? After-all there are people in the company who have profit margin as their #1 KPI.

The prices would be lower only if the consumers didn't have the buying power to pay any higher . These are just the byproducts of India moving towards being a "developed" country from a "developing country". People have plenty money, they just keep complaining of lack of it.

Re: Skoda Kodiaq bookings reopen in India

Any idea how many units are allocated for India this time around, and how soon will it be sold out again?

Although the price increase is pretty steep, but if the Fortuner can get price hikes every quarter, this is nothing…

Of course Toyota is charging premium because customers are paying. That is exactly what I meant by setting dangerous trend.
Toyota keep increasing prices and people keep buying. Other manufacturers always get cushion to play around because of Toyota pricing. This has resulted in car prices to go up overall, not just for Toyota but for all OEM.

It has to stop somewhere or somehow!!
