97.90 Lakhs?

This is price gouging. Just a couple of years ago, The awesome X5 30d, expedition edition was available for a list price of 79Lakhs.

We all know what kind of discounts are possible, could have been on road at 73-74L. Now, 105L

Didn't the X5 always have this variant complimenting the 40i M Sport model? Not sure what exactly is the new launch/update for.

The X5 has 3 trims levels SportX (Base), xLine (Mid) and M Sport (Top). From what I can gather the 30d diesel engine option was only available in the SportX and xLine trim level, if you wanted a X5 M Sport you could only get the 40i petrol engine option. This is BMW introducing the M Sport trim level with the 30d engine.

Was it really possible to get a german at below the ex showroom price on road?

Surely, this would have been a big loss to the dealership by selling below what the MSRP + roadtax is?

Yes, not only the X5, even the GLE and Q7 were once available for 75-80 Lakhs and this was just 3-4 years back, of course with massive discounts in tow.

Now we get GLC, Q5 and X3 for just about the same price if not higher.

But then this segment shift and price hike has happened across the entire automobile industry…

Of course! all Owners are aware. when I bought a new LCI F30 320d, (the 1st one in Eastern India, 5+ years ago, got a flat 6L off ex showroom.

For a new model, the 1st in Eastern India. the beautiful B48 Engine, ranked by Autocar UK (10/10) as the only car you ever need.

Just not possible these days.

A good comparison between the X3 and X5. Although the X3 40i guise is not available in India, the comparison in other aspects shows whether it is worth spending 20-35 Lakh over the X3 for the X5.
