Re: Scoop! MG Hector facelift launch plans; feature updates & price

MG is apparently facing a component shortage in telescopic steering. As a result, my advisor is saying all current Hectors will be delivered with tilt steering only for sooner deliveries. Deliveries in November are already being done with tilt only. Anyone else in the queue get the same message?

The seemingly best of companies can have financial/ audit irregularities - and that may have nothing to do with quality of product offered.

Wanted to balance the argument - since seems the jury has already pronounced this as a 'witch-hunt' against MG. Let the probe assess the truth.
This is similar to the raids on Vivo and other BBK companies. They were supposedly paying almost 50% of their revenues as royalty expenses and evading tax.

The government may look into similar aspects I guess.

Yes, I recently spoke to my advisor from Lajpat Nagar (Delhi) branch and got the same response. It’s disappointing but I ignored it because i might never need it.

MG's marketing machine seems uncharacteristically quiet for a launch coming up in 3-4 weeks' time. After the initial teaser images a few months back, its all silent

While the front looks good, it has a Hyundaish vibe to it. Is it the grill ?

The renders that rushlane used all the way back in Sept, seem to have been pretty much spot on.

I still believe that it’ll look better in person. More or less going to book the Black Savvy Petrol variant once the bookings open, unless updated Hector Plus is in the cards too.

It’s going to be a very happy new year indeed.

I think most of us can see the resemblance to the Hyundai parametric design language in the Venue facelift and the all-new Tucson.

The Chinese copying .. er .. "being inspired" by Hyundai must make the Koreans really proud. If someone is copying your designs, that means you have made it .

The way the chrome garnishing, the headlamps, and the grill all come together gives off Mitsubishi Outlander vibes.

The Mitsubishi does it better though, at least from pictures. Also some similarities to the Pallisade.

I guess MG is getting promo shoot done in London, just like the 1st gen. Let's see who they will rope in, Benedict or some other authentic british actor who can convince us about origins

Hoping for 5th Jan launch, can't wait to get delivery of new gen Hector. Looking good in red, but we are hopeful grille will look better on Black (one that we have booked)!

Is MG accepting bookings for the Hector facelift already?

You could already book for the regular Hector and convert it to the new one - or thats what I was told when I booked one 2 months ago.

Re: Scoop! MG Hector facelift launch plans; feature updates & price

RTO document confirms following:

1) Hector facelift coming in both 5 and 6 seater format
2) Facelift will be called Sharp (not savvy)
3) 4 variants in 5 seater - Sharp, Sharp EX, Sharp DT and Sharp DT EX
4) 2 variants in 6 seater
5) Certification is for Petrol CVT only. Not sure if Diesel is planned

Any guesses on what DT and EX may stand for and how they will differ in offering?

Correct, I had booked currently available top model in May with clear indication that I will wait for Facelift and would like to get it on priority once it's out.

Not sure of EX, but DT could be Dual-Tone color options.

Very interesting. I had been hearing of the Savvy variant with current Sharp to continue. But if Savvy is ruled out, is this new variant coming in place of the existing Sharp?

EX variants were introduced when semiconductor issues were at the peak so MG could deliver some variants sooner by removing certain advanced features thereby reducing higher dependency on semiconductors.
