Also, bought = thoroughly researched their wants, needs and desires and chose it.

Maruti + Toyota collab would make the Koreans life certainly difficult for the next half a million units. But Hyundai + KIA are ahead in the EV race with well engineered products. Healthy competition means customer is the winner.

Safety aspect apart, Kia deserve big appreciation for the way they entered the Indian market. It is now widely acknowledged how hard is it to crack this one.

The way they launched Seltos first with a premium positioning, wide array of options straddling different price and engine segments, well timed follow up launches, great marketing, excellent market research based features- It is the best case study so far in the Indian auto industry.

I think no one other than maybe Hyundai could gain close to 7.5% market share within 3 years. (Hyundai might have done it due to lesser competition, which makes this even bigger success)

I genuinely think that most here have no idea the mammoth task it takes to sell half a million vehicles within 3 years and service them. I salute those who were involved to shape this result.

I don't understand why we have to be bitter in every thread. The whole world knows that their car safety rating is 3 stars and not great at frontal collision. Still, people are buying it, right? Why go to every thread and belittle owners.


PS: I do not own a Kia car and do no plan on getting on as well.

Kudos to Kia. Great milestone achieved with in three years into market. I really like Seltos matte edition looks. I refrained from buying a Seltos even though my family was really pushing me to go for one. The reason why I did not join Kia family is, 'I had taken the test drive of Skoda Rapid'.

Agreed with the comments on Kia/Hyundai's safety issue topic. I guess we have flogged the dead horse enough. Clearly both Kia/Hyundai or their customers are fine with that. Whoever prioritizes stable bodyshell(as per GNCAP) will look at safer options, for others if its not a priority will be happy with other strengths of the koreans(features,A.S.S etc). Lets leave it at that and move on.

Even though Hyundai connection would have definitely helped them, Kia is still a case study for any manufacturer entering India. It is a big positive for the overall market when new entrants are successful. It could encourage other OEMs to setup shop in India leading to more competition and better products.

Kia already has a lot of customers now, the most important thing is to keep them happy and loyal. That’s the next big test for them.

This is a big achievement by Kia.

Kia has given us some good looking cars. Hyundai/Kia have captured the market by giving so many features and gizmos along with vast range of variants to choose from.

I was in the market to replace my 1st gen Ertiga. We booked Carens after checking it out and taking a test drive. As we were waiting for the delivery, we saw Safari, XUV7OO, XL6 and the Scorpio-N. But all of them had something or the other missing in terms of feature, space or the practicality that Carens offers at that budget. So leaving the Safety part aside, it ticked all the boxes for us.

That is how well Hyundai/Kia know the Indian customers and their buying preferences.

That is a magnificent achievement .

Only one experience with a Kia during a Sonet test drive. Excellent interiors, rich feeling, feature loaded, awesome looks!. No wonder the Sonet and also the Seltos have been run away winners.
