Yes and so much police checking, which is nothing but money making. I wonder how many tickets are issued. At least anyone going outside/ coming back from Delhi with a local Delhi address should be allowed. But then, who wants to think logically? All Euro 1 or 2 smoke-emitting Trucks which rule the roads at night still continue to run freely.

Re: Delhi could ban 1 million diesel vehicles to curb pollution

Government revokes ban on BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel vehicles in Delhi-NCR as AQ improves.

BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel four-wheelers were banned from plying on Delhi-NCR roads on December 22, 2023, owing to poor air quality.

Quote:
Ban on BS3 and BS4 vehicles lifted in Delhi-NCR region
CAQM had placed these restrictions owing to the decreasing AQI in the capital
Stage-I and Stage-II restrictions of GARP are still invoked
Quote:
As per an official statement issued by CAQM, the forecast does not indicate any further deterioration, and there is a likelihood of the AQI improving while remaining in the very poor/poor category in the next few days. The commission has asked agencies to keep strict vigil and especially intensify measures under Stage I and II of GRAP in order to obviate the implementation of Stage III of GRAP.

Re: Delhi could ban 1 million diesel vehicles to curb pollution

Diesel vehicle ban is back, amid worsening air quality.

The curbs include a ban on non-essential construction work and the plying of BS III petrol and BS IV diesel four-wheelers in the National Capital Region including Delhi.

I think some such curbs are necessary in other major Indian cities too. Pune region is one such candidate. PCMC is already looking at a GRAP like plan. But it should focus on multiple aspects-air pollution as well as wastage of water resources.

GRAP works solely and solely according to AQI levels. It has nothing to do with water wastage. Provisions kick in as soon as AQI crosses a set threshold.

Are BS3 motorcycles allowed? Or are they banned as well?
