If only it also had Diesel and Turbo petrol to complete the package.
The reason why Hyryder is based on European S Cross is this. Vitara is a shorter wheelbase older platform.

Maruti has been delivering the newly launched models mostly within same week or about - case in point 2022 Baleno and 2022 Brezza. So let's see if they also delivers GV within such short time of launch.

HyRyder, which I have booked, would be delivered around Diwali time it seems
Toyota beginning production of Hyryder and Grand Vitara at their plant only from Aug 1, so no chance of super quick delivery by Maruti. My guess would be early Sep deliveries at the earliest.

By this logic, Brezza is Based on Vitara then? Seriously asking not being sarcastic.

Because its dimensions are 3995x1790x1685 and wheelbase is 2500mm too, it matches Vitara's dimensions closely except length being kept under 4M for obvious reasons.

The Vitara, Brezza and S Cross are all on the same platforms. The difference in wheelbase does not make it a different platform. They are all derivatives of the original SX4 platform. The length, width and height of the vehicle is always adjustable and is not a big deal. The philosophy of a platform is more to do with the hardpoints in terms of Suspension, Engine position, Seating points wtc

Just checked the source code of the booking page again & noticed that the Rs 950000/- has been removed from the source now.

I always believed the Hyryder/GV is based on a lengthened global Vitara structure. Why?

1. Take a look of the door frame and window frame, from a 2D perspective they are a match while the S-Cross uses a different front door frame (more curvy/aerodynamic upper section) and window frame shape (with a small triangle window because it uses door-mounted ORVMs) and closer distance between the front window opening to the ground. It's a styling decision, Maruti concluded India don't like SUVs with a lower stance, they want something upright and Vitara's structure supports that, basically it should be easier to begin with the Vitara body structure to work with.

2. Take a look at the connection between the front door, A-pillar and fender panel and the panel gap between them. Almost identical between the Hyryder/GV with the Vitara, entirely different with the S-Cross. Modifying this section ('hardpoint') is complicated.

3. However from the B-pillars and rearwards they lengthened the wheelbase and length from the Vitara, hence the name Grand Vitara. Lengthening the rear of the vehicle is simpler than modifying the hardpoints up front, notice how Euro manufacturers make their sedans longer in China with no problem.

4. Still, we should note that these 4 vehicles share the same Global C platform. It's just that some cars are closer with the other.

This AllGrip is finally here, superb.

Does it come with Automatic Transmission? I need AT, that's not negotiable.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

After seeing that teaser with the model coming and pulling the cover off the car, I can only think of this marketing copy for the car "Dear International Lady of Mystery, come get me, I will help you slowly and sedately get away from the bad guys without breaking any traffic rules".

The new advert is fun.. Halfway through it, I was wondering which beauty to focus on Jokes apart, Maruti's launch and fanfare may take away substantial Hyryder bookings.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

The lack of Diesel in the duo is one of my biggest disappointment. The 1.5NA is really underpowered for a car of this segment and the Hybrid probably would cost way above the diesel variants of the rivals. The earlier speculation of Maruti bringing the diesel back on their larger cars was something I was really expecting but never happened but with these cars being manufactured by Toyota they could have easily managed one.

That's excellent, given the old Gypsy (the one that everyone from Civilians to Rally racers and the Armed forces have come to love) is just a 2nd gen Jimny.

To me it just makes sense to use a reputed name like Gypsy instead of trying to build a new brand under the name Jimny.

Not many people have heard of the Jimny in India but everybody has heard about the Gypsy.

It's funny that Jimmy is being tested in India for long time but Maruti is not talking about it.

I want to upgrade to this cute car. I want it in petrol only. But putting petrol engine in Grand Vitara is bummer.

Well put, ajayc! It is certainly amusing to see so much enthusiasm for the frills rather than the hardware - specially where an SUV is concerned. Or even what passes for an "SUV" these days!
