Maruti Suzuki's SUV Grand Vitara has so far received 40,000 orders and supplies will start in September. (Closer to the festive season beginning with Onam)

The CUV Brezza bookings stand at 90k with 70k pending deliveries, while Baleno has 36k orders pending deliveries.

A tidbit I missed from my viewing of the Grand Vitara.

At one point, the ignition was turned on and the engine was running. Someone in the driver's seat hit the accelerator a little and I could feel vibrations on the rear bench through the seat and the floor even on low revs. This was also corroborated by the cabin NVH reports from the initial drives. The three-pot compromise does rear its ugly head.

If this carries forward into the actual driving experience as well, I suspect this to be a dealbreaker for potential customers.

Toyota Hyryder gets 3 point seatbelt for middle passenger in rear. That's a welcome change. I hope it is there in Vitara too and preferably a standard feature across all variants.

This is the biggest potential concern for me too. This is an important review point, hoping we will get some idea in the team BHP review. Also this should be checked thoroughly during test drives at highway speeds.

Isn't there a general consensus that a 3 cylinder engine cannot match the smoothness of a 4 cylinder counterpart? The auto manufacturers maybe able to squeeze and match the power torque figures even with the 3 cylinder unit to that of a 4 cylinder workhorse but it comes at the cost of some clatter and harshness. Just like in every business - auto cos are doing every bit to cut down their cost and that generally will have an impact on the overall quality of the product.

Are the demo vehicles available in Bangalore now? Which Showroom did you check out the Vitara?

They were available for viewing across the city towards the end of July and start of August. Although, I got this message from my dealer about a viewing on 25th and 26th.

Thanks - had called Nexa Kalyani just now - they took my number and said they will alert me when its available again in Bangalore. So short answer - does not seem to be available in Bangalore immediately now. But your message shows availability at Pratham - let me check.

Backtalks are on for subsidy on hybrids. Govt seems to be lesser interested this year. May be in next budget they can take a call. Fingers crossed

I have a genuine question to everyone. White lights have very poor penetrability in fog which is common especially up North. Almost all cars have white LED headlights these days and Vitara is also going to have the same setup. So how will it fare in foggy conditions? Vitara misses out on foglamps. We have a S-Cross Alpha and it gets difficult to drive during heavy fog, thankfully the foglamps help. Any work around for this major issue in Vitara? There is no provision to fit foglamps in Vitara.

I have the same concern here. Single Bi-Beam LED Projector is not going to be brilliant on a foggy night or early morning drive.
A pair of auxiliary lights placed somewhere inside the front grill might be helpful and I fear to say, might become essential for folks living in places with heavy fog.

Atleast some provision for a fog light would have been good.

After having fitted my Thar with 3 color temperature LED Projector fog lamps and a pair of H4 mini projectors inside the headlight, I love the razor sharp low beam cutoff. But just a pair of projector headlights feels inadequate on our roads sometimes.
Hence, Single Bi-Beam projector are good but not brilliant. Or Maybe, I am spoilt by my setup.

Lets hope, Grand Vitara has a good lightning setup for our Indian roads.
