Thanks for the info.My Dad is planning to buy a new car and have looked through many but he always ends up inclining towards Maruti Suzuki.That's the brand he trusts, so will definitely have a look at this option as well.

That is exactly what I would prefer. But it seems Maruti has gone with the Market demand and loaded with sunroof and other features. May be good for many, but a non sunroof higher variant seems to be missing from every manufacturer these days.
Considering the accessories list somebody shared above, I think that roof rack will act as a protection over sunroof rather than actual use at least in my case.

Is it true that the Hyryder has 3 pointed seat belt for the middle passenger while the Grand Vitara makes do with the usually rudimentary lap belt for the middle passenger? If yes, why this ugly cost cutting for a seemingly premium offering?

Personally, I felt the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara to be much better looking than the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder with a much better front profile and grille, the rear of the Grand Vitara also looked much better to me.

Ain’t this a very shameful tactic to garner bookings. I don't understand the logic of launching a product without test drives.

For a customer who's used each Maruti product on offer in India barring the Eco and Vitara I think MUL is losing its charm.

Absolutely, i was in shock when sales guy told me that same car is being rotated. Though no fault of his, but i could not resist mocking this very out of this world strategy to not even have sufficient cars to display.

This is Wrong, How can they enter the most competitive segment with an engine which is not even competitive in a segment below,

When new brezza was launched, It had all the bells & whistles (look, features, road presence) on thing I was expecting was- engine upgrade. Almost all offer powerful variants in sub 4 meter segment [Nexon, Sonet, Venue even the turbo variants of Magnite/ Kiger are better)

Now the same engine is coming in Grand Vitara, this is criminal, It does not justify the badge. Old Grand Vitara was 2.4L petrol motor with 160HP a decade back. This is down grading at another level.

The bottom line is it will still do numbers, if they had 1.5L turbo producing 130-160Hp then it would have been a Creta Killer

Right now it seems like a slap on Indian car buyer ecosystem!
