122 Nm seems low for a car of this size, will feel underpowered imo.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Overall, Maruti seems to have woken up. The general reliability, fuss-free ownership of MSIL cars combined with new age gizmos and good build quality would leave no excuse for the masses to skip Maruti's new launches compared to the Asian rivals. Of course if the pricing is right. There have been some overpriced cars from Maruti, everyone knows this.

I think the same. Even Honda City Hybrid has much better power and torque output figures and also feels sprightly. I'm not too hopeful about the performance of the strong hybrid as implemented in this car - it's too much focused on efficiency.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Anyone able to do online pre-booking through NEXA website? I was trying for last 2 days again and again but the website returns error message at the last for payment.

One of the Gurgaon NEXA SA was behind me for pre-booking. After transfer of the amount and providing PAN and Aadhaar documents he went underground, not picking up the phone for booking confirmation.

My 11k seems to be gone. Hence beware.

Hope you have transferred funds to dealer's account and not to an individual's account.

Yes, it was through Bank transfer only. The bank account name also seems to be ok. But the behaviour of the SA is in stark contrast to what he was doing before the transaction.

Please call the showroom directly, probably on their landline and ask for the details. Ideally you should receive email from Maruti about your booking.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara to go on sale in September 2022

Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Grand Vitara will be launched in the Indian market in September.

The Maruti Grand Vitara was unveiled earlier this week. However, dealerships have been accepting bookings since July 11. The SUV is available in six variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+.

The Grand Vitara shares its underpinnings with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and comes with two engine options. These include a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine that makes 103 BHP and 137 Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. It also comes with an optional all-wheel drive.

The other engine option is the 1.5-litre strong-hybrid producing 115 BHP and 122 Nm. The ICE is paired with an electric motor that has an output of 78 BHP and 141 Nm. This powertrain comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Looks like a compelling package. I'm thinking the entry level hybrid model is likely be priced roughly around the fully loaded Creta Diesel - 22 to 23 OTR.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

27.97 km/l sounds a bit too good to be true here in the Indian market, especially for a Maruti, and I wonder if this is highway, city or mixed efficiency.

Personally I feel that the name 'Grand Vitara' is not fitting for the car, would have preferred it to be 'S-Cross' but who knows what plans MSIL have for that name

Finally Maruti realizing the car segment getting the most market share at this point, a midsize SUV is a must have for middle class families, let's see how they do in GNCAP safety test this time.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Why did they choose to call it Grand Vitara only God knows. The original Grand Vitara was priced at around ₹25 lakhs 10 years ago. That alone tells the kind of machine it was. They could've named this one simply 'Vitara'.

I think after they built this car, they realised it not good enough, hence they thought calling it Grand Vitara will somehow boost its sales number. It is like TATA decided to change Blizzard's name to Safari just few days before launch. Don't get me wrong guys but the name Safari or Grand Vitara is supposed to induce unparalleled excitement, like what ScorpioN and XUV7OO did.

With respect, may I present the real Grand Vitara (yeah the XL-7) which was sold in India from 2003 to 2007 I think -

The 2009 Grand Vitara, while being very capable, was still a watered down version of the XL-7 in my opnion, marking the transition to a Unibody construction from ladder frame, and to a 2.4L IL4 from that thumping 2.7L V6

How I wish our market was ready for it back then

P.S.: Apologies for the OT post. Just felt like paying my homage to this unsung hero!

This is just for the petrol engine...adding the output of the electric engine gets this number past 200 Nm.

I do not think that the Power and torque numbers work like that. Combined max torque figure officially given on the brochure is 141 Nm.

There are no combined max torque figure given in the brochures of either this or Hyryder, just max power is given which is 115 ps.
The torque rating you are referring to is for just the electric motor that's why it says (0-3995 rpm) since that is how high the motor revs, its peak power is also at this exact RPM. They should have released official figures to get rid of this confusion.
