Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

After years Suzuki designs a fresh interior and then decides to slap it in every new release with almost the same layout with minimal to no distinction whatsoever.

5 speed MT is whole another point to be discussed about. In 2022, the era of powerfull crossovers MS still stuck with old 5 speed MT. Imagine cruising in your premium SUV at 100 kmph @3000rpm.

Such a bummer to not get AWD with AT for me. Is it just the cost or MS and Toyota skipped any further R&D for AT+AWD and hence this combo doesn't exist.

Here it is. If you read reports in Europe, it says the GV is India specific with export to select countries like Africa.

This is also a reason why the Vitara moniker is kept separate from GV, so the Vitara generation will continue.

Quote:
It is not a global model, but with Vitara's expected generational change in 2024, we can expect the form solutions known at Grand Vitara, for example, in the video that attracts interest, we see that the red LED strips of the tailgates on the tailgate stretch almost to the branding in the middle.

You are right. The interiors on Korean twins hold a definite edge on this new entrant.

The thing with Maruti is that their level of interiors across board is so utilitarian, that any attempt like what they have done in GV feels like a major uptick. But purely, product on product comparo, inspite of their update, Creta/Seltos or for that matter even Sonet's interior on upper trims feels better than Maruti.

I have felt the same way too. The quality levels, fit and finish you see in the interiors of KIA/Hyundai just feel a level above than those in Maruti.

Personally, I feel that the HyRyder's front fascia and the Grand Vitara's rear would look more "pleasing" to the eye.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Grand Vitara looks much better than Toyota urban cruiser hyryder, IMO UC hyryder looks outdated in comparison to Grand Vitara in exterior department. I think Maruti GV will be at least 50k to 60K cheaper than the Toyota UC Hyryder.

Exactly. And its a poor 5 speed MT thats available with the AWD anyways - so its not even particularly sensible form that standpoint. While this is what I expected ever since the reveal of the Hyryder, disappointed that there is no AT + AWD. Without AWD there are better cars - inside and outside - in the price band I expect these cars to be launched at. And the same silly choices of the Hyryder - not having some completely unrelaed features in the top end mild-hybrid as well.

When are the prices expected to be known?

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Maruti eyes top position in India's fast-growing SUV market, set to launch multiple models.

- Garners tremendous interest for its Brezza and GV.

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki, which launched the all new Brezza late last month and made the global debut of midsize SUV Grand Vitara, has already received 73,000 bookings for the two cars.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Oh boy, Grand Vitara is the wrong nameplate for this crossover. I won't be surprised if they name the Ciaz replacement Kizashi in the future (if that is even coming due to SUV craze) But this does look very good indeed especially in that black colorway. It's been a while since I've seen a black maruti and I guess it's time to see a lot more. Where the new brezza looks polarizing, this one looks clean especially from the rear.
But maruti is hell bent on this 1.5L anaemia ridden engine that they have detuned even further now in the k12C variant.
Also, The variants without strong hybrid or 6AT don't even make any sense. Because of so many differentiating features not available on those.

And why is the final drive so short on the MT? Why can't a 6th cog be added for the relaxed cruisabilty? The creta/seltos 1.5 NA motor isn't that different from maruti's k15 but it has a 6 speed manual. Even a grand i10 turbo is doing 2000rpm at 100km/h.
In my Ciaz MT too, the engine is ticking at 2700rpm@100km/h. This irks me so much.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

The Sunroof of Grand Vitara is different.

Never seen a car where the rear glass also moves. Normally it's the front glass however, in this Vitara both the glass has separate motors and both move making the opening massive.

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Does anyone know what's the boot space of this car ? One of the pics make it look very less.

Also, does this need any battery replacements after 5-7 years?

Re: 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara to debut on July 20 | Pre-bookings open

Decent looking Maruti, finally something that can make Hyundai worry about Creta. Looks slightly more proportional compared to Toyota’s awkward front (Droopy nose on an already droopy face). Rear looks good, side profile shows it’s age unfortunately and wish they had reduced the front overhang to make it butch as Brezza or 1st version Vitara.

Wish they bring in a 7 seater version of it now. So, no way Maruti could bring back its diesel? ;(
