The car here looks very square-ish. The Grand Vitara will have a lot of curves. The front grille of the actual car is almost the same as that of new Dzire.

Approving that gem to be used in passenger cars was another ground breaking "risk" for the lack of a better word that the boffins came up with to further reinforce the point.

To be fair to Suzuki, they are a small fish compared to deep pocket, vertically integrated giants like VW, Hyundai, TATA, Mahindra or Toyota. The very fact that they still sell their products in decent numbers in Urban centres to self-certified-well-read junta is an achievement.

Innovation in the dictionary sense has never been Suzuki's forte. They know how to sell stuff and make money.

Their strength has been the ability to bring stuff to the market in the most cost effective and most user friendly manner. The AMT as jerky as it is, popularized AT massively in India. Similarly the democratization of touch screen audios or now HUDs is definitely a Suzuki contribution.

I have been in Japan since last 17 years and have seen multiple agencies make predictions about an imminent Suzuki demise, be it after GM sold it's stake or VW left or when Toyota alliance was born. They somehow are still standing and haven't folded.

I love Hyundai cars and own the best value car they ever made in my opinion. But i have never forgiven them for what they have singularly done to automobile prices in the Indian market by killing the value for money car concept. The Creta stares at me like a sore thumb everytime I look at it and see the humongous profits Hyundai makes by selling them. Today every manufacturer thinks it is OK to launch a vehicle at a high price, features and safety be damned.

Integrated manifolds aren't designed to get cooler exhaust. They are designed to keep the catalytic convertor as close to the cylinder head as possible, minimize gas cooling and achieve faster catalyst lightup. Same consideration benefits turbo spooling as well. Cooling of the integrated manifold is done to prevent a meltdown (aluminum casting).

Do you really think a manufacturer making engines for decades and being very reputed in 2 wheeler segment and we'll as outboard motors won't understand this much? Come on!

So it is actually the facelifted version of the S-Cross that Maruti is launching with the Grand Vitara moniker. The dimensions, looks and other attributes remind me of the S-Cross. Hope this is rated at par (if not above) the previous gen S-Cross. Best of luck to Maruti!

I do not really expect that they are going to reveal the pricing. People who are seriously in the market for a new car will get pissed off, due to this strategy of delaying the price brackets of both the cars.

Looks better than Hyryder in my opinion, although Alloys seems to be straight lift from XL6.
Only thing left is how do they price it!
