Congrats to Škoda. The Octavia is a brilliant car, and I’d still recommend it to anyone looking for a refined ‘value luxury’ car (alongside the overpriced but brilliant C5), but not looking at the likes of the D2 Segment Superb and Camry.

Hope to see the comeback of D1 sedans in India. A new Civic, a new Jetta, a new Corolla, and perhaps even the MG 6

Fancy news but how much of that came from the latest overpriced Octavia? It's been doing an average of 140 units a month.

The current generation Octavia is going to sink the Octavia brand in India, due to its pricing.This has been primarily done to provide more breathing space to VW Virtus/Slavia.

I am still hopeful, rather day-dreaming for a 4 lakh price cut on Octavia some day.

Octavia has always been a stronger model for Skoda in India, so kudos to them. I remember being in the fourth grade when a close friends father bought a bright red Octavia and it was THE thing for us at the time.

I'm assuming this also includes Laura numbers, which I may be completely wrong, but I believe sold alongside the (internationally) previous generation Octavia.

Big achievement for Skoda India, as Octavia is still on sale in India, and is doing reasonably well even without a sunroof.

Kudos to Škoda India on reaching the 1 Lakh units sold milestone!

The Octavia is the car that started the fun side of sedans in the D-Segment, other sedans came much later on.

And the 2L TSI which is an absolute bonkers of an engine, makes the Octavia the most FTD and spacious car at a cheaper price compared to its other 2L TSI siblings across the VW umbrella!

Usually manufacturer’s celebrate when they reach the 1 Lakh sales mark, any specific reason Škoda chose to celebrate the milestone at the 1,01,111th unit?

For me, my favourite Octavia is the 3rd Generation FL model! I wouldn’t mind getting a Pre-worshipped 1.8L TSI DSG 3rd Gen FL!

A car I have always admired right from the first sight of the boxy first generation. A car with a very high brand (model) recognition and a rare privilege for India that the OEM never pulled the plug along its 20+ year run. That said, I wonder if India was the only market in the world where the popular Octavia moniker was replaced with Laura (thankfully, temporarily)

So happy to be a part of the club! And the thing that adds to the happiness is I managed to pick up this blue beauty at 23L on road in 2020! They happened to launch the Onyx edition as one of the last batches of the 1.8 TSI automatic which was exactly how I wanted the car to look - Blue exterior with blacked out interiors and black alloys. In fact the Onyx even came with electrically adjustable seats for the front passenger as well which even the Style/Style plus didn't have.

Going by the the crazy current prices of the new gen Octavia, I am glad I didn't wait. Call me biased, but I still feel the 3rd gen FL was the best looker in the lot.

This was the Onyx edition of the 1.8TSI Automatic

Above 30-lakh rupees, this is probably the 2nd-best selling model after the Fortuner. And well-deserved too. The Octavia is the ultimate "value-luxury" car, easily matching more expensive models like the A4 at a far lower price.

Heavy discounts come & go. A cousin bought an old stock 2021 Style variant for 28.xx lakhs earlier this year. But I see your point. They should've priced it right from the get go, instead of overpricing the L&K by 5-lakhs, then discounting it.
