A total of 10 changes are there overall majority cosmetic .
Sporty tune on the suspension?

They could have given the latest South African Hilux GR-S tune. 225~bhp and 550nm.

Also give it the the T-O-Y-O-T-A grille.

You are correct to an extend, GR badge is used for racing - however at times races are conducted where there are no roads like in Dakar, so I suppose you have to use SUV and pickup trucks

re: Toyota Fortuner GR Sport launched at Rs 48.43 lakh

Since Fortuner owners do not care about money (as the notion suggests), they missed the chance to get the 4L V6 here as the GR-S. Maybe it would have sold like hot cakes and also could have evaded the NGT. Now that would have been special. A tight slap in the face of that organisation.

Or at the very least could have the 2.7L 4x4 with a higher state of tune. But we always get treated to bottom-of-the-barrel goods most of the time.

Blacken out bits and slap on a body kit. Next stick GR sports badges here and there and ask roughly 5L premium over peasant spec Fortuner. 200-300 additional sales per month guaranteed. No need to touch the suspension even but if they do I doubt majority is even going to bother reading the tech spec sheet. Win win situation all over, just launch it already Toyota.

When they can successfully sell a 35Lakh worth SUV at 54Lakhs and make enormous profit per sale, why would they bother to bring better models/engines and reduce their profit margin.
No wonder they are not even offering the Prado at a reasonable premium over Fortuner like they do in every other market.

If they ever launch a Prado again, then it'll be cheaper to get a GLS 400, a twin engine jet, a personal air craft carrier, a few nukes, an RTX 3090Ti and a Pulsar 220 and still save money.

Cruel jokes aside, the LC200 still commands 50-80L for 10-12 year vintage in the used market. I bet if they launch the Supra, the Aventador would start looking really VFM

re: Toyota Fortuner GR Sport launched at Rs 48.43 lakh

May be the GR sport will serve as the tatkal ticket to Fortuner ownership. With a 4 lakh increase for some cosmetic additions, the profit margin on these will be very high compared to other Fortuner models. So Toyota will obviously prioritise these deliveries. Pay 48L Ex showroom if you want quicker delivery. Peasants can pay the 40L Exshowroom and wait for months till a vehicle gets alloted.

And the Fortuner most likely crosses 60L+ on-road in Bangalore.

Legender 4*4 AT was already well above 55. Legender 4*2 was the first to cross 50L, the previous major milestone.

What unholy pricing is this?
Post Ford's exit, Toyota has been so brazen with Fortuner pricing, almost as if they are punishing customers for not buying enough Livas, Etios, Yaris etc. and making them sell rebranded Marutis. Shows the importance of competition in any market.
Still feel market will lap it up like hot cakes. Legender, and now GR Sport will give maximum bragging rights

Below par pricing by Toyota standards, LOL. When you see Toyota prices, all other cars like Honda, Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, etc. suddenly start looking cheap. When you see Maruti prices, you think it has government subsidy

Jokes apart, I will buy Harrier and XUV700 with this kind of money in hand and will still save some money for fuel It will make perfect garage for me.

And to think it was launched for around 18 lakhs in 2009. At this rate it's going to cost a crore in a short while.

Drive on,
Shibu.

re: Toyota Fortuner GR Sport launched at Rs 48.43 lakh

Barring the fact that the Fortuner was already stupid expensive, what does Toyota aim to achieve by diluting the GR name like that. I get it when the same is added to the Supra or the Yaris, but here, why?? IMO, they should have stuck with TRD.

What next?, Innova GR-S, Hilux GR-S(oh well, that already exists)
