It would be great if they put the 1.4 T-GDI motor in this car, This makes the Verna a serious competition for the German twins and the City in terms of powertrain options.

Logically, the only reason why Hyundai isn't doing this is because of the Elantra. If the Verna gets a 140 HP power mill, Elantra wouldn't have any USP left but now, if the company discontinues the latter, Verna might get the 1.4 and take on the German twins.

Well - the Verna has an ace up its sleeve even now - in the form of the diesel engine. Nobody else other than the City is offering that. In current era of high fuel prices - the diesel still doesn't seem to be pulling people away from the Creta to the Verna. It seems to me that the current gen has fallen off the radar of most customers.

The 1.4 TGDI definitely will be a good proposition to take the fight to the 1.5 TSI in the Slavia-Virtus. But in the current fuel prices situation and extremely sensitive nature of turbo GDI engines towards fuel efficiency - I feel the Verna facelift's real USP will remain the diesel engine - provided Hyundai continue to offer it.

On the petrol side of things, I simply can't see why someone will drop a 1.5 TSI+DSG equipped fresh VWAG car, to pick a Hyundai.

Add to that, another USP. Diesel automatic. An ace up it's seleve that they have consistently offered ever since the Verna was launched.

Though, yes. Creta + Seltos has already lead to the Verna falling off buyers' radar. Key reason, why Kia is not going to dabble in hatchbacks and sedans.

But I really want Kia to bring their sedan and hatchback cars to India. If the Slavia and Virtus can revive the sedan market, I have hope for Kia to bring their Rio sedan from Russia here. From there maybe the Serato or the Stinger to go against the Octavia.

The hatchback market is still the volume seller and Kia has the Picanto and the Rio hatchback that can bring a little excitement in the market. Maybe even the Soul EV for added wishful thinking.

According to Hyundai global sales report, Hyundai India seemed to had exported 309 next-gen Verna (codename: BN7i) overseas in April. Which is surprising since the test mules had only started appearing recently. Could it be an erroneous report or mass production had already began?

New-gen Hyundai Verna likely to be launched next year.

The new Verna will be significantly larger and more spacious than the outgoing model, and therefore believes that it could cover both the midsize and executive sedan segment.

Will get a long list of equipment including ADAS tech

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

Is it just me, the new Verna seems considerably longer than current one.
Verna had just one major shortcoming of space. If Hyundai has made it longer, that could be addressed as well. Diesel AT will be their USP. Hyundai should consider providing it right from lower end, just like ScorpioN. If they do it, Honda and VW twins will definitely have a tough time.

1.4 turbo! I don't think is coming to Verna, but if it does, it will be an additional bonus to push sales.

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

Honestly I wouldn’t bet much on diesel, especially lesser than 2 litre engines by any manufacturer. Hope I am proved wrong, but I don’t see much of future for Diesel engines. Atleast that’s what the rumours of Innova pulling plug on diesel and Hyundai having no plans of upgrading their Diesel engines lead to. Will have more clarity after stage 2 BS6 kicks in.
This is where Hyundai really need to get 1.4 turbo engines to Verna, else all that extra weight and increase in size will only make the car more slower.

A new spy shot shows the presence of a radar on the 2023 Verna, meaning it will be the second model in its segment, after the City Hybrid, to get ADAS.

re: 2023 Hyundai Verna launched at 10.9 lakhs!

Spotted the next generation Verna on Mathura road this morning. It appears to have a large screen like the XUV700 (mercedes e class etc). The car appears to be more or less the same size as the current Verna. The front styling concerns me however the rear end looked hot.

The vehicle definitely looks wider and longer than the current gen Verna. Good to see that Hyundai still believes in sedans. Is it just me getting a feeling that the ground clearance has increased a bit?
