Ok, this was not expected from the Verna atleast to me. The interiors look a segment above and the exterior also looks better in darker shades. It has proved me worng of what I thought it would be. Never judge a book by its cover. Hope safety has been adressed too.


Verna 2023 exterior compared to its competitors:

Verna 2023: Can't comment unless seen in flesh. Spied image attached below and this might be the final product too. It looks good in darker shades according to recently leaked images.


Slavia: Beautiful design and curves


Old Verna: Still a looker in 2023


VW Virtus: Sporty and beautiful design


Honda City: Looks good but nothing much too talk about


For me the order goes like this in terms of exterior:

1) Slavia
2) Virtus
3) Verna old
4) City
5) Verna 2023 (Don't bash me with posts, according to spied images it looks ok but in flesh it will look great I belive)

SO, this is just a comparision of the new verna according to the leaked images and on the opinion which I gave on looks, don't take it seriously, this posts main motive is to just give an idea of the new Verna against the competiton . I'm excited for tomorrow's launch of the new Verna and I hope that my fellow bhpians are excited too .

A little OT, so please excuse me.

Am I the only one that feels that cars are getting unnecessarily complicated in the cabin? I mean the distractions that are in front of you, with multiple screens, touch screens, voice commands which don't recognise what you're saying, does no one find them distracting and sometimes downright scary especially on our roads?

I'm 40 and a hardcore car enthusiast and drive myself. I find it increasingly difficult to focus on driving modern cars. I drove my friend's new Scorpio N on an out of town trip yesterday. Thankfully, that car does has some buttons for major functions but you still have to use the touchscreen occasionally, taking your eyes away from the road while piloting a rather large car.

I don't know but I feel engineers are complicating cars unnecessarily. It's not a video game where you can start again once the game 'ends'.

I honestly miss the Maruti 800 days when I learnt driving. All we needed were a rear view mirror and perhaps an ac.

I drive a linea t jet active edition (the base model). While it has ABS and all disc brakes it does not even have climate control inside!

Funny incident, a friend wanted to drive my car, go in and while reversing out of the parking lot, he looked a bit frantic and asked me where the reverse camera display was!

Like with most things, tech has taken control and some of the tech advancements in terms of creature comfort is just amazing but i get your point about distractions.

We be part of a different generation and i can only think of the famous Malcom in the middle meme/quote:

"The future is now, old man!"

Just have to live with it and adapt.

As for the Verna, 160hp, all discs and if they can price it well below the VW/Skoda twins it would be great.

Well this depends. If most of the functions are in touchscreen, then it surely isn't a good move. I drive a Kia Sonet and Ford Ecosport S. Both have a lot of buttons(thankfully) on the steering, some useful bits like Auto AC, Auto headlamps and Auto Wipers, Auto Dimming IRVM (Sonet doesn't get last two). The voice commands and android auto work excellent in both cars (Sonet even gets Wireless AA, no more dangling of wires-added distraction).

In a nutshell, with more physical buttons (most on steering), systems that can recognise the voice commands, snappy touchscreens, and a host of automated functions= effortless driving. Personally, I am happy with these advancements.

All of this goes out of the window if there are a absence of physical buttons or some feather touch buttons for climate control.

For whatever reason, most of these pictures are from weird angles, and blurred for possibly removing info. that may identify the location - and that makes it incredibly hard to comment on its real looks.

Have a feeling that the car is much better looking than how it appears in those pictures. Of course, it could still be very much love it or hate it kind of one.

As per the video 1.5 NA SX(O) manual trim does not get ADAS. Maybe Hyundai has reserved the ADAS functionality only for the top SX(O) 1.5 turbo DCT variant(hopefully manual too). I’m in the market for a new car and it is going to be one hell of a ride choosing which one to buy.

Strange how a car can look so good in the dark colors, but downright ugly in light colors! I for one absolutely love the looks in dark colors, but I am hating it in light colors.

Again these aren't clear pics, and I hope that the car looks equally good in light colors, post the unveil!

Thank you for the video @speedfreak01. It's a complete inside out walkaround video.

Another cost-cutting area that Hyundai could have avoided - providing 4-way power adjustable driver seat, but a manual height adjustment.

Why Hyundai, why? Not that it's a deal breaker as height would hardly be adjusted once we find a suitable setting, but it seems just strange to look at.

I personally love how this car is turning out, especially in black/grey. Not as good as the previous gen Verna but still better than the earlier pics.

Headspace at the back still seems to be lacking.

So good engines, decent space management, 6 airbags, no-adas on NA top end, okayish interior that doesn't go all the way on features - nothing standout actually and absolutely polarising looks! Handling, ride quality and price TBC.

IMHO, don't think there is much to make this the 'oh i want this car". The Slavia / Virtus did manage that kinda emotion much more than this Verna.
