HRV to compete with the likes of Creta/Vitara/Seltos and a CRV like SUV to compete with Compass/XUV700 would be a welcome move.

In the changing scenario customers are ready to compromise on km/litre factor than betting on reliability (DPF and other emission norm related issues)

It will be interesting to see which section of the platform they wish to build the new product from.
For example, if they use the City platform with it’s wheelbase, we will have a bigger SUV, whereas if they use City’s derivative Amaze platform with its wheelbase, we will have a smaller SUV. This could be one of the many attributes that could define the vehicle.

I think HR-V have various cost sensitive limitations (eg: manual park mode could not be accommodated?) because of which Honda could not launch it in many cost sensitive markets. This new vehicle could be Honda’s attempt to rectify those shortcomings.

For reference, very vaguely, Honda platforms looks like this;
Honda Light truck platform - Pilot, Ridgeline.
Accord platform - Accord, Odyssey. (Accord is a derivative platform from Civic platform.)
Civic platform - Civic, CR-V, and North American HR-V
City platform - City, Jazz, HR-V. (Amaze is a derivative platform from City.)
Amaze platform(Honda Global small car platform) - Brio, Amaze, WR-V, BR-V

Thanks for the update !

Looks like a decent SUV .. away from the van type RVs. If Honda is able to launch it with competitive pricing and decent features thrown in, considering crazy waiting periods for some models it’ll fly off the showrooms. Everyone knows about engine setup..1.5 NA & strong hybrid at launch .
Hope they consider turbos at future date.

True Honda fan!

There is no clarity yet on the launch. Whether June will be a launch or unveiling for the much-awaited SUV from Honda.
Hoping that it is priced competitively and not 'premium' as mentioned by one of the users else consumers have a lot of other options to choose from (read established models).

Could this be the new HONDA SUV ??

This is the official channel for Honda Indonesia, probably a new launch for them. We will still wait as usual.

YouTube teaser shows the bottom of a Type R logo painted on a garage door, so it’s probably the Civic Type R. But the emphasis on the letter W is interesting. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say they’re plonking a turbo into the WR-V.

Will Honda be using their usual camera based ADAS or could it be a radar based ADAS? Personally, I feel ADAS is not really mandatory for Indian driving conditions but I feel it definitely provides huge benefit in dense foggy winters of North India where their camera based ADAS will be useless.

Rumour: Honda mid-size SUV pre-bookings open unofficially

Honda plans to foray into the hotly contested mid-size SUV segment later this year. While the name of the new model is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest that the car could be launched this festive season. However, some dealerships are said to have started accepting pre-bookings already.

It seems too early to begin pre-bookings as the mid-size SUV is still undergoing road trials. Another factor could be that Honda now has just the Amaze & fifth-gen City on sale as the WR-V, Jazz and fourth-gen City have been discontinued.

Honda’s new SUV will share its underpinnings with the 5th-gen City. In terms of design, the car is likely to borrow cues from Honda’s other global models. It is expected to measure anywhere between 4.2-4.3 meters in length.

The mid-size SUV will be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine from the City, albeit in a higher state of tune. Honda might also offer a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a strong-hybrid powertrain at a later date. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and CVT.

Atleast they could have teased something about the SUV ! Without any picture or feature ad of the SUV, why would anyone book it for no reason. For eg, Hyundai atleast gave an idea on how will Verna look, Honda just gave a render. I hope Honda releases some teaser of the suv.

Well as it stands today, the Courtesy Honda dealership here in Okhla, Delhi has not started bookings. In fact the representative wasn't even sure of the segment this launch belongs to. She said that it can be Venue or Creta competitor. They dont have any firm information about launch dates from Honda. Is any other dealership taking bookings?

What this world has come to. Till now people are booking cars with atleast a picture shown, Honda expects booking with just teaser. Next, open bookings to design sketches.

Atleast Honda has 1 curious customer. Poor lady mush have been waiting from teens for this suv.
