re: The Hyundai Venue N Line & Facelift. EDIT: 2022 Venue facelift launched at Rs. 7.53 lakh

Given the rise in popularity of automatics over the past few years, I hope Hyundai breaks their long tradition of not offering an auto option with the top trim SX(O).

It actually makes sense because cars are not sold in isolation, such a variant usually comes bang in the middle of overlapping the higher segment car and not just its base variant but a well equipped middle variant and sometimes even automatic mid variant, most people would naturally choose the latter provided the highest end features are more of an add on rather than necessity (sunroofs, push button start/stop, keyless entry and all), I myself would go for the bigger/better and perhaps structurally safer car at same price as well even if it loses some of those features.

The Hyundai Venue's sister car, the Kia Sonet HAS an automatic option with the top GTX+ variants. And this Sonet top variant overlaps with Kia's own higher segment Seltos mid variants.

Same segment, same platform, same brand owners. If they can do it with Kia, why not with Hyundai.

One could argue that Kia is "perceived" as the more premium brand, but the most expensive Hyundai Creta and the most expensive Kia Seltos (again sister cars) are priced within a few 1000s of each other.

Also, Hyundai's own Creta is offered with an automatic in the top-variant. If 'yes' for Creta, then why 'no' for Venue.

Personal preferences could go either way; During our last car purchase, both my wife and I really liked the Hyundai Venue AT. One of the main things that that stopped us from going ahead was the lack of 6 airbags on the top-variant automatic, but that WAS available on the top-variant manual.

Don't get me wrong, I'am not trying to advocate or impose my personal choices, that is why we have different models and variants, something for everyone, I'am just explaining why it doesn't make much business sense so this is justified thinking on executive's part to not bother much about it.

6 Airbags would mean nothing if the underlying structure isn't sound, not talking about these particular examples, there is no evidence even Creta/Seltos are better built. But most people would go for the higher perceived value of the bigger car, nothing wrong in not doing it but you can for sure understand the rationale behind their thinking?

I absolutely agree with you about the "something for everyone". This was precisely the reason why I was hoping they would have the SX(O) automatic this time around. Given the current market preferences, give people the choice .

Looking at the brochure, looks like they have done exactly that, the DCT is now available in the top-trim SX(O) also. Perhaps when the Venue DCT was originally launched, they assessed that there wasn't a market for a top-trim, but looks like there is now.

Sad to see they removed the Deep Forest green option, the other colours are the same bland ones previously offered. The digital cluster looks like a straight lift from the Carens and better than the one on the i20 atleast. Looks have been improved a lot overall, especially the bland rear, alloys are meh.

Great update by Hyundai.
Superbly executed. But the brochure says wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay only in the lower trims, not in the top model. Weird !
I hope Hyundai fixes the weird 'Distance to empty' (Range) indicator which is way too optimistic and not at all realistic.

Re: The Hyundai Venue N Line & Facelift. EDIT: 2022 Venue facelift launched at Rs. 7.53 lakh

1.2 MT starts at 7.53
1.0 turbo and diesel start at 9.99 - just under 10 lakhs for tax benefit to believe.

Base variant is not as well loaded as say in the i20. So the real base is the S variant in case of Venue, which has a load of necessary and even some premium features.

Just for information - base variant of i20 gets features like rear AC vents, music system (non touch screen), all power windows, electrically adjustable ORVM, front arm rest, cooled glovebox, passenger vanity mirror, decent 185/65 R15 tyre and wheel rim size - all these at a starting price of 7 odd lakhs showroom. Plus the wheelbase of i20 (2580 mm) is more than that of Venue (2500 mm) - but what can we say about the current SUV craze!

  1. Rear wiper/washer is available from S+ and S(0) Variants. (Except S(0) and SX 1.2MT variant)
  2. Cruise Control is available from S+ and S(0) Variants. (Except S(0) and SX 1.2MT variant)
  3. 16 inch Styled steel wheel is available only in S+ and S(0) Variants. (Except 1.2L MT)
  4. 15 inch steel wheels standard across all 1.2P MT variants.
  5. 16 inch diamond cut wheel is available only in SX 1.5 and SX(0) Variants.
  6. Puddle Lamp is available from SX Variants.
  7. Traction control(ESC,BAS,VSM,HAC) and Tyre Pressure Monitor (Highline) are standard across all variants. (Except E Variants)
  8. LED Projector Lamp,LED DRL & positioning lamp and Connecting LED tail lamp are available from from S+ and S(0) Variants.
Biggest omissions in S+ and S(0) variant is
  1. No adjustable rear seat head rest
  2. No Auto A/C
  3. No Auto fold ORVM
if they added above 3 features in S+ and S(0) then S+ and S(0) value for money IMHO.

I guess it has something to do with Telematics/Bluelink. Might be some compatibility issues. I'm not sure though.

The Kia Seltos had a similar quirk when I was looking at it last year. The top end variants with the 10" screen didn't have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the mid variants did have wireless. I had read that this was down to the hardware used on the higher variants not being able to support it.

I thought it was the same case here, but they all have 8" screens , though the higher trims have "HD" + Bluelink extra. Perhaps its another case of hardware support problems here, and marketing's decision to tradeoff between "HD" + Bluelink and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android.

Re: The Hyundai Venue N Line & Facelift. EDIT: 2022 Venue facelift launched at Rs. 7.53 lakh

I quite like this facelift, looks stunning as usual but gets the new family look, as usual loaded with everything, too bad it is pretty much out of our consideration for wife's car since the budget was 8 and we were stretching it till 9 max for Venue or Brezza but with the S variant so loaded (as compared to the previous gen which was around 9 itself) and E as usual barebones, the S will be out of reach and E will be not a sensible buy at all.
