Those red stripes seems similar to that on the YFG / D22 spy pics seen earlier. Seems like just a sticker and not reflectors / lights.

What I don't understand is why Yaris Cross is being tested with this much additional claddings to cover the design elements if it is used to test the parts only. Chances for the Toyota version of the Creta rival to sport the Yaris Cross top hat? It can't be the Baleno Cross as Yaris Cross is around 4.2m in length. Will we get both?

If a car is being tested with camouflage, its very likely that the vehicle is going to be launched here. Vehicles imported for parts testing do not wear camouflage. My understanding is that Maruti is going to launch at least two more new SUV's / Crossover excluding the Brezza, of which not less than one is coming from Toyota.

It could mean there will be two body styles differentiating the Strong Hybrid and the Mild Hybrid variants.

Wonder which one will be which.

The Yaris Cross is definitely smaller than the D22. So, would the bigger one do the 2.0l petrol engine and AWD rumours justice? While the Yaris Cross gets the 1.5l one?

Well, in the initial thread spotted an information that new Vitara Brezza offered in Europe is with 6-speed AGS (AMT). I wonder whether the Indian Market Leader and Global Leader decide to offer a 6-speed TC (+ paddle shifters) and Hybrid in India? I guess since they are aiming at Creta segment there is flexibility to price such that it lands around 19-22L OTR price. However, interesting to watch what's offered on new Brezza and how it differentiates with Creta-competitor (D22/YFG).

Regards

Consider the following:

1. New Suzuki SCross is launched in Europe with minimal external changes. Many panels seem same as before. Reason may be "financial".
2. Suzuki withdrawing from MotoGP citing financial reasons.
3. Toyota may also consider the financial reasons.
4. Latest spy images of the Creta-competitor has only one model (in the pics, atleast).

My wild guess based on the above points is that Suzuki version will be a modified version of the international Vitara (and it actually looks like that!) and the Toyota version for India will be the Yaris Cross. There is no chance that both YFG and Yaris Cross launching here as 2 separate models by the same manufacturer. (In Europe, both are priced more less same). And they may dump the second version of the YFG/D22 or keep it for the next facelift :)

Huh ? What are these people at MSIL AND TMIL high on ? They have become too complacent in their actions and too myopic in their approach. MSIL should have simply reintroduced Vitara V6 or maybe plonked the sweet Innova TD 2.4 into the Grand Vitara chasis and price it in the 20L range. See if it doesnt sell.
What they save on RnD can probably be spent on adding extra airbags and a sunroof.

Toyota-Maruti's SUV, more details emerge:

- D22 (Toyota's SUV) will take the exterior design inspiration from Toyota SUVs, like the Yaris Cross, Rav4 and Corolla Cross.

Quote:

the SUV will feature a split headlamp setup with dual LED DRL's and the signature Toyota grill. The front bumper of the SUV gets a honeycomb-patterned air-dam, and the side profile is flanked by squared-off wheel arches.
- Interiors will be inspired by Corolla Cross.

Quote:

will receive a free-flowing touchscreen infotainment system within the centre of dashboard, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, connected car technology, automatic wipers and headlamps, ORVMs and electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Moreover, Toyota might offer Advanced Driver Assistance System features too
- Toyota-sourced Hybrid Powertrain and Mild Hybrid from Maruti Suzuki

Quote:

THS from Toyota while the Mild Hybrid could see the 1.5-litre K15 C dualjet petrol engine mated with SHVS mild- Hybrid system.

Hybrid system will have a bigger battery pack coupled with the electric drive train
- Unveil of the D22 to happen in June/July with launching happening in August.

I can confirm the K15C is one of the engine option of the YFG based on these export-import data (source)

I found references of Toyota Hybrid System (THS) too (source), however it is unknown whether the combination of K15C + THS will be used or will it use Toyota's engine.

The K15C engine (found in New Brezza, Ertiga & XL6) is confirmed for in S Cross replacement but a separate 1.5L engine( I don't know whether it's Suzuki or Toyota make) is likely to be paired with THS. The car is nearing completion and is likely to be launched by September this year. A larger panoramic sunroof, HUD, 360 degree camera and standard 6 airbags across the range, is likely to be part of package.

Much expected from Toyota regardless of the mandate, I believe they were the first to do it with the Yaris. Any idea if three-point belts for all seats will be part of standard equipment? Toyota has had them in the past right from the Etios.

6 Airbag and 3 point Seat Belts should be standard for both Suzuki and Toyota make vehicles.

They could take exterior design cues from the Yaris Cross, Rav4 and Corolla Cross, but had to take the dashboard design from the Corolla Cross?!!! :Frustrati
IMO, the least practical dashboard design of the three.

Surprised that the unveil is near. June, July with launch on August. Thought it would be after September.:)

Current Glanza/Baleno dashboard design actually looks somewhat similar to the Corolla Cross, especially where the infotainment screen and central AC vents are mounted:

Toyota's Hybrid awareness campaign goes regional (Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali....) as the unveil of its SUV (D22) nears.
