BMW has launched the 2022 X4 facelift in India. The SUV is available as the 'Black Shadow edition' and comes in two variants: xDrive30i and xDrive30d, priced at Rs 70.50 lakh and Rs 72.50 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
The X4 is a coupe-SUV that shares its underpinnings with the X3 that was launched earlier this year.
The 2022 BMW X4 features a redesigned front fascia. The changes include new front and rear bumpers, a larger kidney grille, redesigned LED headlamps and slim LED taillights. The 'M Aerodynamic' package adds body-coloured front and rear aprons and side sill covers, vertical air intakes, 20-inch M alloy wheels and M Sport brakes with red calipers.
Inside, the SUV gets a reworked dashboard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It is equipped with Sports seats, a panoramic sunroof, an M leather steering wheel and adaptive suspension.
The X4 Black Shadow edition is available with the same petrol and diesel engines as the X3. These include a 2.0-litre petrol producing 248 BHP @ 5,200 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,450-4,800 rpm and a 3.0-litre diesel churning out 282 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 650 Nm @ 2,000-2,500 rpm. Both engines are likely to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

The X4 3.0D is not bad value at all compared to the X3 2.0D : Around Rs. 7L more gets you the 6 cylinder diesel, with the M Sport kit, and distinctive styling (love or hate is another topic)!
In comparison, the 5 series has a cool Rs. 8.5L difference between the 20d Luxury Line & 30d M-Sport.
Also,
The X4 3.0d LCI gets the updated 282 bhp/ 650 nm engine tune unlike the 530d LCI which continues with the 261 bhp/ 620 nm.
Talk about "Hey BMW"...

Is the X3 also offered with the 6 cylinder 3.0 litre diesel engine?

No, only the 2.0D engine in luxury line trim.
Will this Black shadow edition option be available all the time or is it like a limited edition .

So,
I was just browsing the bmw India site hoping that they would have silently updated the 530d engine to the same spec as the X4 30d. Nope they haven't.
But when I downloaded the X4 spec sheet, I saw that even the 30d on the X4 has the same spec as the 530d (261 bhp/ 620nm) and not the updated (282 bhp/ 650nm).
No, I don't think the Skoda guys are doing BMWs spec sheets!
Bummer Motoren Wurke ++

282 bhp/ 650Nm is the 30d spec with MHEV, meanwhile the 30d 265 bhp/ 620Nm is the one w/o MHEV.
So does the India-spec X4 get MHEV in the 30d or not will determine the power and torque output.

The increase in power/ torque is due to the increase in the injection pressure (up from 2500 bar to 2700 bar).
The 11 hp provided by the 48v mild hybrid system is not included in the engine spec.
The Indian 530d gets neither.
Here's the brochure. It does say 265/650

Good riddance, I say :D
It’s been an eye sore on the roads.
The X4 was the cheapest BMW to get the phenomenal 30d engine in India.
A pretty bad decision by BMW India, IMHO.
Although can this mean that the X3 will get the 30d soon?
