Mercedes-Benz India has priced the Maybach S 580 from Rs 2.50 crore, while the imported S 680 starts at Rs 3.20 crore (ex-showroom, India) – making it the most expensive Maybach sold in India to date.

The Maybach S 680 sold out till 2023.





The Maybach S-Class is available with two engine options – a 503hp, 4.0-litre V8 mild hybrid unit in the S 580, and a 612hp, 6.0-litre V12 in the S 680.





- New Maybach is based on the latest V223 (long-wheelbase) S-Class luxury sedan, with the wheelbase stretched by a further 180mm.

- The Maybach S-class is also equipped with level 2 autonomous tech including systems such as evasive steering assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep and lane change assist.

- 13 airbags as standard, even comes with a belt airbag. Most in any made in India car.

- Gets 360 degree camera, unique Maybach mode where the car starts in second gear to avoid jerks.

- S680 will be available with a two tone paint. Takes a week to just do the dual paint finish.

- Equipment : Adaptive air suspension, individual climate zones, powered front and rear seats, heated and ventilated seats, seat massage function, chauffer package, a panoramic sunroof, power close rear doors with gesture control, rear seat entertainment screens, a 1750W Burmester 4D sound system.

Have not seen such an ugly grill in the recent past in any of the cars. Ridiculously ugly, after-market-ish and questions all senses of aesthetics, IMO. Side profile looks nice, though.

This grill is somewhat acceptable.

You should have a look at Lexus & BMW grills (new generations). Way too big & not at all pleasing to look at when you compare to the overall car design.

Slightly off topic, but

I had been to the Mercedes factory in Chakan more than a decade ago, and I was simply astounded at a comparison I got to make that day - The first pic is the number of cars that were painted fortnightly (I forget the actual number) by Mercedes Benz and

is a look at the approximate number of cars TATA used to paint in the same duration of time.

It was mind boggling.

But what took the icing on the cake was the fact that Mercedes used the Tata paint shops to carry out their painting. Same paint shop, different quality...

A car which costs upwards of 3 Cr, I can see 1 week paint job as completely valid

Pricing is pretty much as anticipated. Interestingly, those who bought the S400D/450 Launch Editions maybe feeling shortchanged if they're primarily chauffeur driven, though the self driven may appreciate the rear wheel steering and other goodies on the launch edition.

Personally not a big fan of the wheels : hope they look better in person.

Pardon me but what is the inference from the above post? Were you praising MB or Tata?

Some of the early the launch editions had reported GC issues for Indian conditions as well as some electronics issues. With the extended wheelbase further than the standard long wheelbase; this will be challenging as a daily drive or outstation drives for the target buyers. Many S classes are daily rides or frequently used unlike the super and hyper sport cars.

Somehow I tend to feel the W222 series as far as the S Class and the Maybach is concerned, looked way more classy. The front looked better and the back of the vehicle is not even a comparison. Am unhappy at the way the flagship Mercs look these days.

Here’s the brochure. Many features are standard on the CKD as against the extra paid option on the CBU.

2,5 Cr seems competitive if we compare with earlier CKD prices, the kit that’s on offer and general inflation in this segment.

The side profile of the dual tone S680 reminds me of the RR Phantom. Not a big fan of the grille but I'm sure the ride quality, comfort and interiors are going to more than make up for it.
