That Fuel efficiency, damn!. No wonder it sells like hot cakes!. It would be an excellent city car. It's not mentioned anywhere, but it would be good to have auto start/stop from idle for AMT.

I wish they had given Auto AC and adjustable head rests too. Those would have made it a well rounded car than it already is.

Good set of features added.

One thing to note, how intelligently boot and cabin space is marketed.

When boot space is shown to accommodate lots of stuff, parcel tray is conveniently removed. But when cabin space is shown, it is well in place.

Although I’m not a fan of the exterior design, those are some really good specs for the price. I’m sure there are some compromises - not every car has all the creature comforts at this price point.

Is it really wrong/misleading? All car manufacturers calculate their boot space without the parcel tray. These pictures show how the car looks when no one is sitting and the car is not loaded with stuff - to make it look presentable. Of course with people and their stuff in the car, it will look different

That seems to be a perfect city car. Yes the WagonR is a bit boxy, but with a tall boy design, the ingress is very easy, especially for the senior citizens.
I have driven my friend's prev gen WagonR around the city and I found it extremely convenient. This model is here to stay for many years ! Good job MSIL !

Re: 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR launched at Rs. 5.40 lakh

Seems to be good package for a city car and regular commute. How reliable is the CNG kit? What can be the range of the car with tank full petrol and CNG kit? Is the CNG car worth buying when one is ready to compromise in other factors?

Re: 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR launched at Rs. 5.40 lakh

The price difference between the 1.0 lt VXI / VXI AMT and 1.2 lt ZXI / ZXI AMT is a mere INR 13k. Looks like Maruti wants more customers to buy the 1.2 lt ZXI / AMT over the 1.0 lt VXI / AMT variants, therefore priced it agressively. Who would buy the 1.0 lt VXI variants to save INR 13k? Also isn't the additional cylinder, 200 CC and additional features worth more than 40-50k?

I don't understand the pricing logic. Am I missing something here?

Re: 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR launched at Rs. 5.40 lakh

Quite sure this will sell well like the earlier models. Suzuki excels in extracting the maximum juice out of a product.

This model looks as ugly as the previous model. Having said this, "don't judge a book by its cover" is very apt for this "tallboy". My borther-in-law owned a Wagon-R, and boy is it comfortable sitting inside this car!

With the additional features, and amazing FE numbers, this amazingly practical car should do well.

Re: 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR launched at Rs. 5.40 lakh

My fathers 17 year old Swift was replaced last month with a WagonR AMT.
I drive a Ford Aspire which coming from a old gen Figo, I thought had lost most of it's enthusiast characteristic.
Having driven the WagonR few times, I now understand what a city car is. It doesn't engage you in anyway. Purely a point A to B car. The steering feels disconnected, the AMT is annoying if you don't know how to work it. No wheel cladding which makes the cabin noisy because of the tyre roar.
As long as it is within the city, it is a perfect car and no wonder it sells like hot cakes still.

The only thing I would have wanted from the new model is the hill hold assist, it would have helped the clutch last a longer.

Re: 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR launched at Rs. 5.40 lakh

One week, new avatars of 2 best-seller cars launched. Maruti is on a roll.

As hideous as it may look(no offense to owners/prospective owners), the Wagon R is an epitome of ingress egress comfort for those who are aged or have aging back/knees, VFM proposition and sales chart-buster. With that FE rating, and a CNG option in the most sold (in my opinion/knowledge) Vxi variant, it is surely going to eat a considerable portion of the Tiago numbers. Santro/Nios will continue to trail far behind.

However, me thinks, the launch of Tiago CNG across the range made Maruti plonk the CNG in the Vxi. God bless competition.

Both the recent launches by Maruti have shown that they (Maruti) have all the tricks up their sleeve. It is just that they don't roll them sleeves up until they see a threat. They keep raking in sales with minimum efforts/features on offer as long as their position in the segment is unchallenged.
How many of us could ever have thought of a Maruti hatch, that too the Baleno, with 6 airbags, HUD or 360 View camera? In all probability, we might even see a sunroof and a new 6 speed AT with paddle shifters on the upcoming Brezza.

This CNG kit is the most tried and tested factory fitted unit. It has been on sale since 2010 and has been the top choice for the commercial (Ola/Uber) as well as the private customers. As of 2020, Maruti had reported selling 3 Lakh units of the CNG WagonR alone. This should easily have crossed 3.5 Lakhs by now, considering a quarter of the total WagonR sales comes from the CNG variant.

The maximum capacity of the CNG tank is approximately 12kg of CNG. Assuming that you get a tankful of CNG (in the colder hours of the day with a high pressure), which is generally 8 to 10 kg max, you are likely to get driving range of 325 to 350 kilometers on highways and between 275 to 300 kilometers in the city on CNG. Add to that the petrol tank of 32 Liters and the claimed mileage of 24.35, which comes out to 780 kilometers approx. Looks like you can easily make a 1000 km trip if your tanks, both CNG and petrol are filled to the brim.

Now that the CNG is available in the Vxi trim, the car has almost all the necessary features. It surely makes a great buy as a city car for someone with high running.

You might want to look up "decoy pricing".

Basically in this case, VXi has been introduced to jack up the aspirations of a LXi buyer but finally make him / her purchase the ZXi variant since its just 13000 apart

Exactly. This is what apple does too. At least now we have iPhones starting at 128GB but earlier they had 16GB and then 64GB and I personally think that the 16GB existed only to push people to buy 64GB iPhones.

Even when I had booked my Spresso (now cancelled), the difference between the top end AMT and one variant below was just 13K but that added things like smart play system which alone I feel was worth more than that difference. Apart from this, there were other things too.
