Jeep India plans to launch three new SUVs in India this year. These include the Compass Trailhawk, Meridian 3-row SUV and the Grand Cherokee.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk

The upcoming Compass Trailhawk will receive the same updates as the facelift version that was launched in 2021.
The Compass Trailhawk will be offered with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine. It produces 170 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system.

The Trailhawk's off-road kit includes a factory lift suspension, Selec-Terrain with Rock Mode, Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) and Hill Descent Control.



Jeep Meridian

The Meridian is a new 3-row SUV that shares its underpinnings with the Compass. It will be manufactured at Jeep's Ranjangaon plant from May onwards.

The Meridian is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. The engine is likely to be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.



Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep will also launch the Grand Cherokee this year. The premium SUV will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the Quadra-Trac 4x4 system and Selec-Terrain traction management system.

Jeep does not seem so sure of that project.

The entry level Jeep could be the next generation Renegade instead, due for an international unveil later this year.

In a recent interaction with the media, Christian Meunier, the CEO of Jeep, said “We’re still studying it [sub-4m SUV], doesn’t mean it’s never going to happen, but we need to do it in the right way. As I said, we’re not going to take a hatchback and make it look like a Jeep.”

Engineering a compact Jeep to have 4x4 capability is very costly and clearly not viable in the price-sensitive sub-4m segment. “It’s a dream to have a sub-4m model for India that is a true Jeep, that is cost competitive and that can make money,” says Meunier.

Looks like no petrol at launch. However, ACI reports that the petrol will follow later - because Jeep is working on getting the 187hp, 270Nm, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol instead of the current 163hp 1.4

Another disaster on the cusp of occurring.

Same old & failed strategies ain't help FCA to propel further in Indian market.
They did same with Punto back then, same car different names Evo, Avventura, Urban Cross. FCA really need to capture the pulse of Indian buyers with more offerings in their line up.

FCA don't ruin it yet again !!

In short, Jeep is launching just one new product which is the Cherokee the other two are just variants of the compass. just like the punto evo and UC and Avventura.

Not sure when they will consider Renegade in reality.

Will this possibly also be offered on the standard Jeep Compass? if you may know...
Given they are largely similar vehicles.
