Rumour: Kia Seltos HTK+ Diesel AT variant discontinued

According to a media report, Kia has discontinued the HTK+ Diesel AT variant of the Seltos.

Rumour: Kia Seltos HTK+ Diesel AT variant discontinued-2019kiaseltos06.jpg

The Seltos is offered with three engine options, which include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The diesel motor comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. With the HTK+ variant axed, customers looking for a diesel AT will now have to go for the higher-spec 'GTX+' trim.

As per the report, Kia has also discontinued the base 'Premium' 7-seater variant of the Carnival. The MPV is now offered in three trims - Prestige, Limousine and Limousine Plus. The Prestige variant is available with either 6 or 7-seat configuration.

If the reports are true, customers still have the HTX+ variant, which sits below the GTX+

Not sure whether AT was available with HTX+ trim before, but as per current brochure diesel AT is available with HTK+ and GTX+ trims. Now the former is about to be discontinued, there will be only one Diesel AT variant.

Ouch. Thats one super VFM variant. Has an overlap with the Nexon diesel. Just add a rear wash+wipe DIY/at workshop, and the car is golden really. Sad if this one really is getting the axe.

No, HTX+ doesn't come with TCAT. Next AT diesel is directly in the GT Line. So that's quite a price bump.

It already had a rear wash wipe setup, almost perfect variant.

Re: Rumour: Kia Seltos HTK+ Diesel AT variant discontinued

Though the Seltos and Carens are different products , I guess Kia is doing this to eliminate the perception of a possible product pricing overlap. May be there were few people out there who converted their current booking from a Seltos HTK Diesel AT to the Carens Dieselt AT variant. ( Bigger vehicle for same price ).

All in all , a very VFM variant being discontinued if the rumours are true.

Yes, the HTX+ D-AT was available until recently. In fact, when the seltos was launched, the top most variant of the D-AT was the HTX+. The GTX+ D-AT was launched a couple of months later.

My business partner has a white HTX+ D-AT, purchased in Oct 2019. I brought a GTX+ D-AT a couple of months later in 2020.

Stupid move, if the reports are true.

Ah yes you are right. I confused it with the Sonet I think. IIRC Sonet gets a D-AT trim, that doesn't have a rear wash-wipe. My bad.

So that would mean a lower entry point for a Semi Auto Diesel.

Great if its true and the first with an IMT for a Diesel.
