Interesting. Perhaps it was retro fit in the 330i MSport I test drove, I am not sure. Sorry for quoting it as Sport in the earlier post. It had 2 bars not 3 as seen in this picture and in the traditional aluminum color not the nice black one seen in this picture. Same is the case with the A4. I saw 2 bars in aluminum color both in the car I test drove and the one in display in their showroom.

EDIT : Just saw the pictures in the link you posted. The arrangement in the 330i I test drove was different. One was diagonal as shown in the picture, the second one was across the engine bay. I will try to get a picture next time I TD. I never understood the reason for these bars (until the recent response from fellow BHPian) and the SA was clueless. I forgot about it until this post jogged my memory.
