This chapter has been closed. I sold my Tiago back to Spinny and exchanged it with a Thar. I will post the detailed experience of the exchange. The parting moment with the car is never a happy ending.

Please do share what was the buyback price and overall experience. Did they quote a significantly lower price than what you had paid for a couple of years back?

The last time I bought Tiago, the experience was seamless. This time, the experience was below-average. For the exchange, I took quotes from Cars24 and Spinny. Below are the particulars

Cars24: Inspection Agent made me take subscription for approximately Rs 500 and they made an offer of Rs 2.0x lakhs

Spinny: I purchased the car 2 years 1 month back for Rs 4.25 lakh. After initial inspection, they offered me Rs 2.7 Lakhs. A bit of negotiation and we were ok to close the deal at Rs 2.9 Lakh. Adding the exchange bonus, I got Rs 3.05 Lakh.
Overall, I think this was not a lot of depreciation considering I was the third owner already.

I will document the detailed experience as soon as possible.

Re: Review: I bought a used car from Spinny

I am currently in the process of buying a used car from Spinny. Was a bit pricey 6.8L almost for a 2017 Diesel Dzire with 47k kms. The engine, suspension was all in perfect condition but the steering was a bit off which the advisor also noticed and accepted to rectify before the handover.
Having being used to buying cars from actual human beings its a bit annoying to having to do everything on an App.

Another thing which caught me off guard and was not mentioned was the service charges maybe for net banking and GST on the service charges. I made a booking advance of 75k to which was charged around Rs 1126 or something as service charge and GST on that service charge. Usually we give a cheque or do direct net banking transfer and we do not incur such charges.

Platforms like Spinny and Cars24 tend to come up with a few hidden costs that aren't highlighted upfront; they charge for digital transactions to cover processing fees, and while GST on transaction charges is commonplace, they could at least be transparent about the same. I have found this lack of transparency in dealings with Spinny quite annoying and have even backed out of a deal due to the same.

Moreover, even while selling, they first put out a lowball quote and when we decline come back with better quotes over and over again, despite them saying that there is no negotiation, so their dealings aren't as straightforward as they seem.

Nonetheless, the platform does provide a quick and reliable way to buy and sell cars, and I appreciate them for taking feedback and improving. Hopefully, these minor issues can be sorted out and they become more transparent.

Re: Review: I bought a used car from Spinny

So update to my Spinny buying. I test drove the car, found that it had a steering issue and the sales person also test drove it and said the same thing. He assured me that it will be rectified but I will need to book the vehicle before he can process the service.

I went ahead and did what he told me to do paid the booking and he said he has raised a request to get it sorted.

Now I make the final payment and call the sales guy to ask for the update he tells me the service has rejected it saying there is no issue. The sales person also confirmed to me that the steering issue is there and accepted it on the phone also and now he says he will raise a request again.

Should I give him a chance or cancel the entire booking despite paying 100%?

Anyways I would advise you all to make sure the car is 100% to your satisfaction and not believe any of the sales people as since it is app based they will keep blaming the app saying its rejected on the app.

Unless the deal is for a rare car at a really good price, cancel and get the refund. Your last paragraph already summarises the reason well to walk away from this.

Edit: I see the deal is for an 8 year old Swift Dzire with no crazy discount. Better to just skip this
