re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

Let's face it, we all knew which car would be winning this before even opening this thread !! XUV 700 all the way for me too, with the kind of package it offers with a really nice and premium-looking cabin. I don't see any other car coming close to this even next year, it has made the safari (which was launched this year as well) feel like a completely outdated car begging for a serious update in terms of interiors and features.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

I have driven the 1st Gen XUV500 (W8 FWD) and then the second gen too (W10 AWD) and recently drove the AX7 AWD Manual and can say that it leagues ahead of other cars in its segments or maybe even a segment above it.

Plus Mahindra replacing car for a user is something that is unheard of, so not only the car but they are also trying to getting the after sales in a good shape. Because these are the two things that we all look for, the car should be good or fun to drive and if there are any issues that come up, the after sale support should be capable of resolving the issues. If not, then they should escalate it internally and get a solution in place.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

My vote definitely goes for the Mahindra XUV700..!!

I guess, looking at the poll, we all can make out that how much the T-Bhpians have been impressed by the XUV700 as a product. I'll state down the reasons why everyone love the XUV7(double oh)...
  • The car has been launched in the price range of 12-22L ex-showroom, which is a sweet spot for most of the Indian car buyers.
  • The car is a 4.7m SUV with 3 row seating, which makes it practical, and the ongoing hype with SUVs makes it even more popular.
  • The ADAS (Automated Driver Assist System) is something which blows the minds of the Indian car buyers and many of the buyers are interested in this car, only because of the the Auto Cruise Control feature.
  • The Power and Comfort, offered by this car is satisfying most of the Indian car buyers and people think that it's better to go with XUV700 and save some bucks rather than spending 50L on the Fortuner. Indians just love products that offer great VFM quotient.
  • Last, but not the least, it has scored 5 stars in Global NCAP Crash Test rating with a score of 16.03/17 in adult safety rating and 41.66/49 in child safety rating, making it the first full-size 7-seater SUV in the country to receive 5-star rating with the highest combined safety score (Adult + Child) of 57.69 out of a total of 66.00.

Nice to see top 3 contenders being from Indian manufacturers

It shows growing maturity and commitment of Indian manufacturers towards India.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

My vote goes to XUV700 obviously.

With so many features aligning towards the "Safety" category, the category which is often overlooked by the manufacturers in our market to make their offerings "Value for money". The overwhelming number of votes that XUV700 got here, definitely suggests the definition of "Value for money" in our market is changing for the better.

On a different note, I was expecting the competition between XUV700 and Punch to be a little more closer than this.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

This year's poll was the easiest in a long long time. Hands down its the XUV 700 for me. Mahindra have done a fantastic job this time around. Sure there are niggles associated with a brand new product, but overall they have a product that will give the competition costing much more, a run for their money. Tata Punch comes second for me. Overall nice to see the homegrown manufacturers giving a tough competition to the other brands.

I voted for Skoda Kushaq as in its segment/dimension placement I see it available to a whole series of customers. A diesel engine would have made it a more demanded crossover.

We are yet to get a lot of user experiences about XUV700.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

My vote goes for XUV 700.
This disrupted the market across segments with top class safety rating, excellent mechanical setup with powerful engine and FSD, nice price point.

XUV 700 makes all other cars look dated and it has got everything right.
Mahindra has upped their game for sure.

No Jeep Compass 2021?

Voted for Punch. For me XUV 700 is overdone. Too much bling.

It's just XUV 700 vs Punch. Voted for XUV 700.
Overall it's a nice package and very good effort from Indian manufacture.

Voted for Punch since it’s at the value end of market. Xuv700 is more accomplished though.

Top 3 contenders are from Indian manufacturers. They surely have arrived in terms of Indian market. It’s important since global manufacturers haven’t exactly got the pulse of market even after decades of business.

Voted XUV 700. Despite its slightly weird front end, it packs more car than the competition and is also the safest. Winner by some distance in my books.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

This is the first time I am voting, so not sure if there is a specific way to cast my vote by clicking on a link or pressing a button. Since I found none of the above, I am replying to the thread with my vote. Apologies if this is not appropriate.

My vote goes for the Mahindra XUV 700 purely for making the effort to be relevant, modern and punching above its weight category. Visual appeal and looks could be polarizing and frankly I have always felt the XUV 700 a little overdone on design. This one is no exception. But there is no doubt that Mahindra has really worked wonders on the interiors of this car. Its way ahead of its competitor. No matter how much I loved the look of the Safari on the outside, the interiors of the XUV 700 just blew the safari away. On top of that Mahindra is the first Indian car manufacturer to provide ADAS on the XUV 700. Granted that the effectiveness of such a system will need to judged through some real world testing and customer feedback. But kudos to Mahindra to making the attempt.
