re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

My vote goes to XUV700, for the effort put by Mahindra to continually improve, come out with safe cars that are at a good price point and making a mark in a market they weren't expected to. And, they are making safe cars, which should be the absolute minimum for a country like ours where safety is given a second thought.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

Mg Astor:
-As many features as the xuv700, most notably adas level 2
-Much more lower priced than the xuv700
-The xuv700 is not a true 7 seater, hence no real benefit of the 3rd row. Hence the comparison should be ok with the 5 seater astor.
-The petrols for the astor should be more city friendly and efficient.
-These engines for the astor have been around for a year

As of now, I am not allowed to vote but my vote would have been for XUV700. No other car has shaken the market the way XUV 7OO has.

I am hoping that they are able to get over the chip shortage and deliver as many vehicles as possible.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

I have voted for Tata Tigor EV. IMO, its the most affordable EV car on sale right now.

Where EV is the future, Tata is doing a great job in focusing on both safety & EV at the same time.
For the city runs where a petrol car is not suitable due to rising costs, Tigor EV is the best replacement.

Kudos to Tata for developing affordable EVs. They have a great start now - just keep learning by taking customer's feedback which in turn will help them in developing better iterations in subsequent facelifts & generations.

As for XUV 700 gaining the most votes - yes, it surely deserves as its quite an all-rounder. But for me at this time of voting, I prefer car to be niggle-free as I'm wary of considering it in initial years.

Agreed that EVs are also risky in initial years as no manufacturer has any experience in it. But we should try EVs & help Tata (early adopter) in analyzing, researching, improving their products as its a new technology. Else, how would the manufacturer improve & know the problems in their product.

Off Topic:
The other day I was thinking this:
If the Mahindra-Ford JV has been successful, we would have seen a Ford version of XUV 700. I'm sure it would have been a great car & better than XUV 700 in terms of everything (ride, handling, reliability, after sales services etc).
And people would have voted for Ford & this would have bridged the gap between EcoSport & Endeavour & brought Ford to limelight in India again. This would have garnered huge interest. Results would have been different had this JV been successful.

XUV 700 for me it is. Despite the long waiting periods, the product seems to have stolen a march over the Safari, Harrier, Hector etc.

Although i feel a tad iffy about shelling out more than 20 lakh plus for the top of the line model while the base price is under 14 lakh. Lets see how the electronics hold out in the long run.

Voted for the Mahindra XUV700. None of the other cars in the list come close to the features that XUV has to offer. 5 star safety is icing on the cake. Such long waiting period may however discourage a lot of potential buyers (especially since EV and other brands may come up with better package).

Even though my preferred choice is not an SUV, I would like to vote for XUV 700 for VFM, Technology, aesthetics and finally the performance

XUV 700. What with all the ADAS features, brilliant Petrol and Diesel engines, and the 5* Global NCAP crash rating. All of this coming from a home grown India manufacturer!!!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

I have to agree with vast majority here, XUV 700 is VFM, feature rich and is offered in a wide price band enabling it to compete with both 5 seater and 7 seater segments. Not to mention the 5 star safety! No wonder it is already a big hit!!

Apart from XUV 700, Astor and Gurkha are some of interesting launches this year IMO but my vote goes to XUV 700.

No contest to be honest, XUV 7OO ticks all the boxes for many buyers with different priorities.

Here's hoping our local lads Mahindra and Tata continue to go from strength to strength!

One day pretty soon, I expect to see an EV up there as the winner...

XUV700 has all the credentials to be Car of the year however, those are yet to be tested in the real world. Despite that, my vote goes to XUV700 just because it has achieved 5 start rating in Global NCAP.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

My vote goes to Mahindra XUV700 for showing us that home grown auto makers are ready to launch global products.

In comparison to TATA, Mahindra had AT and Petrol variants along with diesel(hmmm) which makes me feel that they did their home work. XUV700 also boasts of longer list of gadgets as compared to Safari.

I think XUV will be a repeat of their success of Thar launch (and upcoming scorpio for 2022)

Voted for XUV 700
The car of your choice has to blow you off as soon as you see it.
Well by looks it did not, but when i entered the cabin we were WOW. Maybe we did not expect that from a Mahindra.
The list of features ..WOW
SO the day i have to replace my Nanook unless some other wow machine comes along, the car of choice as on date is XUV 700

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2021 | EDIT, it's the Mahindra XUV700

My vote goes to the Mahindra XUV700 too. It has almost everything. Performance, comfort, tech, a very important safety and is value for money with great pricing. Also a world class product like this from an Indian manufacturer is something that makes me proud.

The Tata Punch and the Safari are a great pick too but there are some shortcomings of their own which makes the XUV700 win hands down.
