No plans to re-launch the Skoda Karoq in India

Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda India, has confirmed that the company has no plans to re-introduce the Karoq in India.

In 2020, Skoda had launched the Karoq in India at a price of Rs. 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV was offered with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 148 BHP and 250 Nm. The engine was mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Karoq was imported via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route as part of the 2,500 homologation-free units rule. At one point, the company had even shown interest in getting the Karoq to India as a CKD. However, the focus now is completely on the Kushaq.

Meanwhile, Skoda is gearing up to debut the Karoq facelift for international markets on November 30.

Re: No plans to re-launch the Skoda Karoq in India

There is still a possibility going by the tweet. Read in between"There are no current plans"

On questions related to Kodiaq five seater, he told please wait for the launch without denying on the 5 seater Kodiaq. Is something coming in the form of Kodiaq 5 seater instead of Karoq?

Re: No plans to re-launch the Skoda Karoq in India

Skoda should not have gone for Kushaq and focused on localising Karoq. They could have let Taigun be the competitive crossover and have Slavia tap into the sedan zone.

I get it that it's good to have two of your own brands to cannibalize each other rather than have someone else do it but then Skoda has always had a premium badge and people pay for it.

Kushaq is getting them good numbers but is also sabotaging the brand image in terms of reliability, quality and badge value. which arguably was starting to get better.

Karoq localised would fit good between Taigun and Octavia (something around 23-24 OTR)

I'd choose Karoq over Compass if it they localised it.

Re: No plans to re-launch the Skoda Karoq in India

This is sad to hear.
A CKD Karoq would have been a really good option to take on the likes of the Compass / Current Tucson and rounded off their portfolio brilliantly :
10-20L : Kushaq / Taigun
20-30L : Karoq
30-40L : Tiguan / Tiguan All Space / Kodiaq.

The person should have asked him whether Karoq will be available in the next few months or whether he should book a Jeep Compass instead. That may have let the cat our of the bag.
