Unfortunately yes. And here I am waiting for this car from around two months ago and with the new already reaching some family members, I am having a tough time explaining to them why the delay in buying the car. Not sure if its worth all the wait and stupid launch planning of the brand.

The day the Slavia was unveiled, we did not even have a clue about the Baleno facelift. Today its already launched and prices announced. Same with the Kia Carens. Now the unveil of the Virtus is going to add confusion w.r.t. looks and if that takes another three months to delivery, this is total trash planning. Early reveal and hype is good but upto a certain extent.

Not a single bit surprised. The people running the show behind the scenes at Skoda have been continuously dropping the ball.

They teased us with the Kushaq and then the Kodiaq for months on end. I could have cut them some slack if they announced something jaw dropping or completely unexpected but the Kushaq was overpriced for the quality it offered and the Kodiaq has gone completely MIA since it was announced.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

Saw a white Style parked at the showroom today. Yet again got reminded that design is one of the few things that Skoda got right!

As per a figure I heard from the SA - pre-bookings are only about 1/3rd of the figure the same dealership gave me before the launch of the Kushaq.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

Skoda has certainly made the Slavia look too good from the exterior. The Stance is good as well. Raised rear will take little getting used to it, but I think for Sedans to survive this is needed. Skoda could have made the Slavia more appealing in interior department if they had given the all beige Seat leathers and not the dual tone ones. This move have made other sedan like City, Octavia look more upmarket and roomy.

I think White suits best for Slavia. Blue is overhyped and Carbon steel doesn't look as good as Kushaq. Haven't seen Red in showrooms yet.

Only Skoda can do this; embargo for the 1L TSI ends on 28th Feb and for the 1.5L TSI it ends on 3rd March

Grabbing attention is one thing, keeping it is another.

Skoda's launch planning is a case study in how NOT to do it.

World wide and in India both Toyota and Honda have recalled cars and Toyota Etios has had suspension issues when they released the car and they were not able to fully fix it. Does not mean that you dont trust a Honda or Toyota. You own them and its worked for you and so u trust it. On Skoda to offer 10 year warranty, please raise it up with Zach on twitter and he will respond to u.
Several people on this thread have had a good experience with the DSG and I noticed they count their blessings. Good for them.

A handful of lucky experiences hardly proves anything. Even a single digit percentage of gearbox failures is unacceptable. Modern cars aren't supposed to break down any more. I remember reading on a Team_BHP review thread where they elonquently said that the DSG failure is not a question of "if" but really a question of "when".

I have a 5.5 years old Vento whose mechatronix has already been replaced once and now, according to the service people,*is going to have to be replaced again in the near future. I have religiously serviced my car at the same VW service center without missing a single interval. In China VAG gave a 10 year warranty because of the failures. In India, they don't.

You never hear about these stories from Honda CVT owners.

You can easily see for yourselves on this forum about DSG horror stories. They hardly give a person confidence to buy a car unless you don't mind sacrificing reliability for the fun to drive element it provides.

In my opinion there is no use defending the reliability of the DSG but instead inform prospective buyers that the gearbox is fantastic and will give a way better driving experience than pretty much any other gearbox in cars on sale for less than 30 lakhs. However there is always a small chance of being stranded on the highway with your family in the middle of nowhere.

Like you said, Toyota and Honda recalled cars. That's the difference. DSG was a clear candidate for such a recall. That did not happen. Instead, they left people stranded having to pay themselves. If there was a recall, nobody would have blamed Skoda. They did not and hence they deserve all the bad publicity they get. In the recent past, going by forum experiences, Honda has also started falling into this league. I still have some respect left for Toyota. Hopefully, they don't stoop too low.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

Skoda might have a quality product but their A.S.S sucks even today. Personal experience of owning a Laura for nearly 11 years. Never have I had any good experience with them. Have tried two dealers so far but both were same.

Any complaints to the call center on your dissatisfaction is just closed with no action team. This does not give us any confidence on their improvement though. Hence I am forced now to think other cars than Skoda.

Taking baby steps to improve their service and change perceptions of Skoda as a brand will not help. Drastic leap is the need of the hour.
