There is no comparison. Active variant looks very basic comparing to the City V. Slavia miss so many useful features.
Red Slavia looks awesome.

May be I wasn't clear Sir. I was comparing the cars and not just the engines, as pricing-wise the City is comparable only to the Slavia 1.0 L.

With due respect, pragmatism should not be confused with negativity. I was merely commenting on Skoda's product/pricing strategy and not the product itself.

Yes, but the table is not a fair representation as the features such as TPMS are listed in the Honda row but not in the Skoda row. Visual representation of information can be misleading unless the basis is clear - for example, either all relevant features should be listed for both rows or only differential features (those which one car has and the other does not) should be listed.
The table is a jumble where all interesting features of the Honda City are listed and if Skoda has the same features, they are not listed in its row.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

If priced right, the 1.5 TSI Style AT could be the replacement for my trust worthy decade old City V AT. I love petrol sedans and this one is a beauty with a stonker of a motor. Their A.S.S. is what makes me skeptical and refrained from committing. But sometimes, you have to take the risk and plunge. If on road price is around 20-22 lakh (Bangalore) it ticks all my requirements. Waiting for TD vehicle so I can test it out myself.

Rohan

Let’s wait for the actual prices - but the fact is that these rumoured prices are very attractive indeed.
I mean, sure you are correct but only if you go by inflation rate. But does it really matter?

As a potential buyer, i don't care about the inflation rate nor do i care about what the company loses or gains out of this.
All I see is an overpriced car when compared to the competition (Honda City or Verna). Which arguably have:

a) More sorted build quality
b) More features
c) More space (if someone fancies that)
d) Better long term reliablity (Kushaq's EPC, DQ200 reliability, Creaking interior in cars with less than 100 kms, squeaky doors, cheap quality.

Also i think it's incorrect to look at Slavia in two segments because of 1.0 and 1.5.

You said that the 1.5 is almost as good as your Superb Elegance 2010. We are a decade from that. 2022 Baleno is coming with 360 degree camera at <10 lakhs. A feature that was not even in the E-class in 2010.

Personally for me to spend anything above 16 on a Slavia after the disastrous ownership reviews of Kushaq would only make sense if Skoda gave me a +1 car as backup for the times a Skoda showed it's true colours.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

So, KIA launched Carens at introductory pricing of 8.99lakh onwards, waiting for Skoda's move on pricing Slavia, hope Skoda team understands what moves the market now a days.

I am in no way a SUV fanboy but after looking at Carens introductory pricing just dialed up the nearest dealer for a TD and is very much tempted to book one.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

I was checking out Slavia's walk around video on YouTube and saw a message on MID 'Start Stop Error' depicting malfunctioning Engine Start/Stop System in 1.0 TSI.

Slavia looks gorgeous but such errors that too in a newly manufactured car seems unacceptable and hassle-free running remains doubtful.
This is where Honda City wins.
I hope Skoda corrects these kind of issues.

The car is in transport mode. In transport mode, the car disables a lot of features that could prove detrimental to battery life. I think the start-stop system might be one of them. Unless other cars in transport mode don't show this error, I wouldn't be worried about it.

A lot of features are disabled or don't work in transport mode. Once the car is allocated, the dealer disables it during PDI and all these disabled functions assume normalcy.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

Quick question - When are we expecting the drive reviews? Is it after the price launch or before?

Yes that, or the car could be low on battery which is again very common for cars in dealer yard or in transport. Nothing to worry about.

I think we need to stop speculating and start being a bit patient till we actually drive the car or at least check it out in person. As they say, too much (online) publicity is also not good.

Yes, this is true. You will see the same during PDI in stock yard once the vehicle is offloaded. This is the reason even after you turn ON the ignition the EPC and engine check light is also ON. Check the video from 4.5 minutes onwards.

When I did the PDI on my Kushaq, I had a small heart attack on seeing them but calmed down after checking other cars and got the explanation. Also, in this mode the speed is limited to 30 Km/hr till the dealer completes the PDI and brings the vehicle to normal condition by connecting the laptop. For mine, it was done in the service center attached to the showroom after bringing the car from stockyard (after payment and registration). This is to prevent the abusing of the car during transport from stockyard to showroom or showroom to RTO.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

Honestly speaking skoda should reduce minimum 2.5 lakhs for all its slavia variants in-order to sustain in this market. With the leaked price top end competitor (Honda, Hyundai) seems to be value for money when compared to Skoda Slavia.

I am an owner of a five and a half year old Vento TSI. I have enjoyed 1,30,000 KMs of this wonderful machine. However it is not even close to as reliable as my dad's Honda iVtec. The Vento's DSG died once already and is on the verge of dying again. You can find plenty of DSG woes on Team-BHP and in other places.

In my opinion if you want a great driving experience buy the Slavia 1.5 TSI DSG, if you want reliability buy the Honda.

Don't get me wrong, I still really love driving the Vento but the DSG's impending death is always at the back of my mind. I will not buy another DSG in future even though it is so fantastic.

Re: Skoda Slavia | A Close Look & Preview

Hi friends,
I'm very happy and also excited to announce that I have been shortlisted for the #DriveWithSLAVIA event to be held at Goa on 28th Feb & 1st Mar.

In fact, I had the official mail 2 days back only, but somehow it went unnoticed. Again had a phone call today seeking my confirmation on participation.
Firstly, I just went 'blank' while attending the phone call, in suspicion of a prank/ spam call.

Then confirmed details with the official mail. Needless to say, joining the event with 'better half'.

Now I'd be sending my confirmation in the prescribed format by today evening.

Is anybody else from the community joining?

Cheers,
