BS6 diesels can see more benefits than with BS4. Try it out. Even cabbies are going for BS6, as told by a pump attendant.

Thanks Condor for giving confidence, I have long trip planned during mid May and have mapped XTRA Green Diesel bunks in GMaps with help of IOC app. Will update the experience on completion of trip.

Drive on, Shibu
I tried xtraGreen in both my cars.

1. 530d
No perceptible change. Refinement was great to begin with, so there wasn't much room for improvement. I don't have a fixed commute to monitor the FE, so can't comment on that either. And there was no change in power felt, although I think the power /torque guages in the car did show a minor improvement sometimes.

2. Amaze iDtec.
Since this Honda 1.5 was one of the most unrefined diesel mills sold in India, there was a huge scope for improvement. And the xtraGreen does deliver! Immediately after filling up from an empty tank, there was a substantial reduction in NVH. It doesn't take any time to deliver the benefits as it's not cleaning the injectors or anything. Even with liqui moly diesel additives it doesn't run as smooth as it does on xtraGreen.

I was initially ready to write off xtraGreen after my experience in the 530d, but after trying it in the Amaze, I'll be sticking to it for sure. The higher cetane number is definitely going to help even if some of the differences may be hard to perceive. The ~5 percent extra cost is fully justifiable in my opinion.

Would XtraGreen fuel be worth trying in a 2011 3.0L D4D Fortuner?
I usually ad 110ml of Amsoil Cetane booster to a 80L tank full.

Only if your car engine is compatible with Bio-Diesel 7% B7. Check manual.

Else you will damage engine & fuel injectors.

Definitely,please go ahead with it.

I usually do two tankfulls of extra green then go back to normal for two tankfulls.

That was my concern, manual does not state anything about bio diesel or B7, just that it needs diesel with cetane 48 or higher.

What’s the difference between XtraGreen and Turbojet in terms of cetane level?

I have found a bit better performance from turbojet compared to XtraGreen.

I used 2 tankfuls of xtragreen in my BS6 Harrier, the engine definitely runs smoother compared to regular diesel. Did not find much of a difference in throttle response/economy. I will use it again however it's not available widely in my hometown(where I'm currently) so the monthly Chennai trips will see the car getting Xtragreen.

Any specific reason for following this practice?

I was using XtraGreen in both XUV and Elantra. In both the cars, increased engine noise was observed after 4-5 months. This noise gradually subsided once we switched back to normal diesel. So, now, I use Addon diesel additive with normal diesel instead of XtraGreen.

Yes i find the engine becoming coarser with continued use of extra green.
So i switch back to normal diesel in between.
I am using extra green just to keep all items like injectors clean and less carbon build up.
Just saved me the headache of measuring addon d and adding it every tank ful, sometimes it's just not possible.

Thanks, guess I will also try normal diesel next couple of times as my Carens feels noisy off late and probably I got used to the improved pickup, so can't feel the difference now

I stopped using XtraGreen in my Carens. The pickup did increase but the car was jerking a lot.

Based on inputs I went with xtragreen for my recent trip between Pune Bangalore. Indian Oil app helped to identify outlets with xtragreen diesel. Had 2 tankfuls and following is observation:
1. No significant increase in mileage, got approx 16kmpl
2. Throttle response better than normal diesel and at par with Jio diesel
3. Not much difference in engine noise, but my car is hardly run 14k so kind of still new

Currently Jio diesel is priced at par with normal diesel so still first preference will be Jio diesel, but xtragreen is definitely better option than normal diesel.
