re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

There is a significant opportunity with Hyundai if they can get the sweet-spot pricing right in order to convert a sizeable chunk of XUV 7OO customers who are on their eternal waiting periods with no line of sight of the deliveries, me inclusive! I for one, shall wait for the pricing to be out on the 4th Aug to decide on the booking (subject to media reviews on how good it drives etc.)

Attaching the India spec brochure here !

Cheers,
Vijay

Good to see different darker interior leatherette options and not just Light Grey. I personally prefer Light Grey as car feels more roomy and haven't had any issues with beige interiors on my other car since years. I just maintain it on regular basis.

Do not think there are different interior color options available.
These depict the texture of different materials used in the interior - Black for the dashboard, Light Grey for leatherette and Melange for the intermediate layer in the dashboard.

Based on the features, this is what I could figure -

Platinum is the old GL(O) + Electronic parking brake + Front parking sensors - power adjustable passenger seat

Signature is the old GL(S) + Ventilated seats + ADAS

The new instrument cluster, longer wheelbase, and ambient lighting are new in both variants. 360-degree camera seems to be omitted.

I guess the signature variant will be priced much higher than GL(S) because of the ADAS. GL(O) shouldn't be too different to the outgoing model, hopefully.

Edit - 360-degree camera seems to be standard across both the variants (mentioned as surround view monitor in the brochure)

Surround view monitor (SVM) seems to be available in both variants (grouped along with ADAS in feature list). Isn't this the 360 degree camera view?

Yes, this should be the 360 degree view camera.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

Need Help!!

Folks, I am new to this forum. I want some advice. Confused between Compass, Tucson & XUV 700. I like Tucson the most, but many in my friend circle are advising me against a Hyundai at this price point (which I don’t understand). I wanted feedback on some aspects given most of the owners here may have weighed these while settling for the Tucson –

1) Is Tucson handling a complete deal breaker when compared with Compass & XUV 700?
2) How is the highway ride quality? Does it drive flat or has a lot of body roll, and movements?
3) Does it have any kind of rattling issues or any issues with the Sun Roof?
4) Does Hyundai not match the expectations of customer experience & service at this price point? I think it has better service coverage across the country, please include if you have any RSA experience?
5) I am inclined to buy a Diesel for the sheer pleasure of driving with that powerful engine & responsive 8-speed torque converter, I have driven it only in the city. Just being price sensitive as I don’t have that much running, Is the petrol engine any good? I also have a feeling that it may not appeal to anyone during reselling. What’s your take?

There isn't much difference in features between top end Alcazar (19.99 Lakhs ex-sh) and Tucson Platinum Petrol AT. Both having same engine, almost same tech and features.

Why should Tucson Patinum with same 2L NA engine be priced any higher? 1 to 2 Lakhs may still be acceptable given that Tucson is CKD and global platform vehicle. Hence, strongly believe the pricing should start at 23L ex-sh.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

Hello All,

I have successfully booked Tucson 2.0DSL AT Signature (Starry Night) colour. My 90% usage will be highways so didn't go for AWD.

Thanks !

Well, I have been driving the 2020 facelifted Tucson Diesel for more than an year now and fit to answer your questions:

1) Not at all. Trust me, my second car is a Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI and there is no night and day's difference between the handling of the two. The Tucson is a well balanced car with even weight distribution and just goes around corners fine at good speed. In my opinion, it's the closest you can get to a Volkswagen in terms of handling. This isn't your regular Hyundai that floats around like a boat. However, I cannot comment on how different the Compass and XUV 700 are in terms of handling as I haven't driven either of these cars.

2) I guess 1) answers most of what should be answered here. The car is absolutely stable at highway speeds and you need not worry about this at all. The brake pad feel is a tad bit awkward but this isn't to take away from the fact that the braking performance all round is excellent. You will get used to the brake pedal feel in a few days time i.e. if the new Tucson still has this trait.

3) Sunroof rattling is a very common issue that plagues cars across all segments. Yes, even the likes of the German big 3 brands suffer from it. It isn't something that is a deal breaker and can easily be kept under check during scheduled service centre visits.

4) I am from Hyderabad and my experience every time has been satisfactory with regards to the service. I have also had a small accident for which the car was parked at the workshop for 4 days. Nonetheless, the insurance claim process and the repairs were done in minimum time. However, do note that the parts are ordered from Korea and may take up to 2 weeks to arrive. Apart from this, I have had zero niggles with the car over the 20000 kms I have driven it. You can be assured of a fuss free ownership.

5) In my opinion if you are someone who loves to drive, do yourself a favour and get the diesel with your eyes closed. The premium you pay will be recovered over time as the fuel economy is pretty decent for a car this size. I get around 10-11 kmpl in the city easily and 16-17 kmpl on the highway cruising at 100 kmph. Even if you push the car hard on highways, you can still manage to get 14-15 kmpl.

Please feel free to shoot me with any further questions.

Can't thank you more for your prompt response. Bang on to my needs.
I loved the 2020 Tucson for its understated looks. I hope there is no other rattling noise apart from the Sunroof. I may follow up with you in case I have any other questions. Thanks again for your support!!

Anyone has information on Tucson having option to turn-off all ADAS functions? Though it will help in highway cruising, should be annoying in B2B traffic in our cities.

I have read that only a few select Authorised service centres handle Tucson. Which one of these would you recommend in Hyderabad? Thanks.
I don't trust the ASC in Kurnool because
  1. Due to monopoly and lack of customer service
  2. I have a feeling that the personnel are not trained/experienced enough to deal with Tucson.

FYI - Apparently, there are a total of 5 current/old generation Tucsons in Kurnool district and SA has informed me that at any given point of time, they stock enough consumables/parts required for ONLY one Tucson. Forget about an accident, can't imagine how they would deal with an unplanned service request.

This might be too much of a kill, but if I end up buying a Tucson, I plan to travel to Hyderabad to get the service done.

Hi.

How is the headlight visibility at nights while driving on
1. Single lane roads with oncoming traffic
2. Expressway
3. Expressway / single roads + heavy rains.

re: 4th-Gen Hyundai Tucson spotted testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 27.70 lakh

I think you should be able to. Today, Hyundai had organized a demo of ADAS in a controlled environment for Auto journalists. I watched a few videos on YouTube and they mentioned many features, a few talked about cut-off speeds for the ADAS features, few ADAS features like Adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist needs to be engaged by the driver. So I think Hyundai should have thought through and these should be manageable and turned off when required.
