Guidelines | How to get Special & VIP number registration for your car | Andhra Pradesh RTA

Many of the new car buyers may want to go with the registration number of their choice. Many would have refrained from going ahead due to the process being unknown/cumbersome.

Having experienced buying a number (same number) for my Interceptor, Nexon and i10 NIOS, I thought of penning down my experience. This is applicable to any RTA in Andhra Pradesh.

You can go to epragathi website at https://aprtacitizen.epragathi.org/#!/index which will take you to the AP Transport homepage.

Getting a number of your choice requires the following steps
  1. Check if the number of your choice is available or not.
  2. Make the payment for the number of your choice.

e-Bidding Section on the APRTA Homepage gives you access to sections that enables selecting and finalizing the Registration Number.
  1. Available List: There are two options here as well "By Range" and "Left Over"
    • Range category shows the list of all numbers (both available and allotted numbers). Priced Rs. 2000 for two wheelers and Rs. 5000 for Four Wheelers. This section shows the list of available numbers from which you can select the number of your choice. There are color codes denoting the availability or unavailability of a particular number.
    • Left Over category shows the list of available VIP numbers whose price ranges from Rs. 10,000 to 30,000

  2. Once you checked the availability of the number of your choice and decide to take a plunge Go to e-bidding Section
  • Select Registration for Special Number
  • Select vehicle Category "Transport" or "Non Transport"
  • Select District
  • Select Number Range
  • Select the number of your choice
  • verify the Payment details and make the payment using various Payment methods.
  • Receive Acknowledgement. In case you miss it then go to the e-bidding section and go to Payment status and verify the payment details.
  • After 5 PM Same Day you can check the allotment. RC Softcopy will be available after 24 Hours.

While selecting the number of your choice you will be able to see the bid count (B1 denotes only one payment received for that number, B2 denotes two payments received and so on). If you do not want avoid auction then do not select the number if Bid count is showing B1 and higher.

The Registration opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 1:00 PM everyday. Bidding happens between 2 PM and 4 PM. Post 4 PM bid winner is allotted the number. If there is no competition then you will get that number.

Simple Trick: In case you want to avoid Auction of numbers but prefer to get a number of your choice do the above process at 12:45 PM or so. Registration closes at 1 PM so if a number is available till 12:45 PM then the chances of receiving multiple Registrations for that number is extremely less.
