Was inevitable. However, the on-road price, at least in Karnataka, is bound to breach the half-Crore mark!!

40.5-41 lakhs ex-showroom? For what should have been the facelift for the standard model, Toyota created a separate variant itself!

Will still sell very well. Only Toyota could pull off this trick in this segment i guess.

I shudder to think of next gen Fortuner pricing...

re: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4, now launched at Rs. 42.33 lakh

The real danger in this development is that Toyota may just remove the 4x4 option from normal Fortuner and mandate that those wanting 4x4 needs to purchase the legender version. They can do that now. There is no competition. And that would mean an increase of atleast 3 lakhs on road for 4x4 aspirants like me. I hope they dont do this and I am able to bring mine home before that.

Rumour: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4 coming in October

According to a media report, the Toyota Fortuner is set to receive a major update sometime in the first week of next month.

Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4, now launched at Rs. 42.33 lakh-2021toyotafortunerlegender05.jpg

Citing dealer sources, the report states that Toyota plans to introduce the Legender 4x4 in India. Despite being the top-spec variant in the Fortuner line-up, it was only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Besides the Legender 4x4, Toyota is likely to offer 2-zone automatic climate control as standard across the Fortuner range. It is also said that the spare alloy wheel will be replaced with a steel rim.

That said, Toyota will continue to offer the Fortuner with two engine options. These include 2.7-litre petrol that makes 164 BHP and 245 Nm and a 2.8-litre diesel that puts out 201 BHP and 420 Nm (6-speed MT) / 201 BHP and 500 Nm (6-speed AT).

Re: Rumour: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4 coming in October

The Legender 4x4 is estimated to cost over 40 lacs ex-showroom. From costing less than the entry level options from the German big 3 when launched initially, it now looks like in a few years the next gen Fortuner might cost closer to the GLC/X3/Q5 as compared to GLA/X1/Q3.

I won't be surprised if it will continue to sell at its current rate if not more, the peace of mind you get with owning a Toyota is definitely a massive advantage.

Re: Rumour: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4 coming in October

Toyota is definitely planning to capitalise on the endeavour situation with the legender 4x4. It would be better if they could include that 11 speaker JBL system in this 4x4 spec legender as it is a huge miss for a top of the line variant.

In reality it would be very difficult to quickly identify a real 4x4 legender amidst all these 4x2 legenders and pre facelift fortuners with legender kits on them

Actually it will be pretty easy!

Legender 4X2 will not have any Sigma 4 badging compared to the Legender 4X4. And the people converting the pre-facelift Fortuners into Legenders are not changing the taillights to the latest one or they are going for the aftermarket at a cheaper price compared to the original Toyota taillights and calling it a day.

Toyota’s Legender conversion costs roughly 5 Lakh, aftermarket you can get the same kit for 1.5-2 Lakh. Although there is a huge quality difference between the two.

Re: Rumour: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4 coming in October

For some reason I don't find this dashboard design appealing. It looks like its lifted from last generation lower segment cars and not contemporary. 4x4 addition is good considering there is no Endeavour in the segment to satisfy enthusiasts. I did not know until now that dual zone AC is absent. I assumed it was standard in these segments. It's a pity that manufacturers skip on these features in India which are pretty standard in mid segments (£20-30K) outside. Does it offer Ventilated Seats as well?

Of course for the keen eye this is easily identifiable with the sigma 4 badge and that is why i used the word 'quickly' as it will be tricky to identify one on the road with a single glance. As you said they are going for aftermarket led tail lights and i have also noted that most of these pre facelift legenders are retaining their pre facelift alloys as well.

Re: Rumour: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4 coming in October

With Fortuner quickly moving into the 40 lakh+ category, there now is a big gap between it and the Innova. Does that also create an opportunity for Toyota to introduce something like a Rav4 in the 25-30 lakh space?

If the market is accepting a 20 lakh Hyundai Alcazar and a nearly 30 lakh Compass, surely a Rav4 will be lapped up?

True that. Rav4 hybrid has got an aspirational value associated with it because of the rave international reviews it got and the AWD. But unless they start manufacturing here, there is very little chance of Rav4 being placed below Fortuner. For Toyota to start local manufacturing they need to be sure about volumes. Rav4 because of its aspirational value might just give them that.

re: Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4, now launched at Rs. 42.33 lakh

Ford's exit from India has made Toyota more greedy. Almost 50 Lakhs on road for a Fortuner

Legender 4*4 AT commands a premium of 4.15 Lakhs over Fortuner 4*4 AT.

Fortuner 4*4 AT - 38,18,000
Legender 4*4 AT - 42,33,000

Next what Legender TRD edition at 45 Lakhs
