Definitely don’t like the gold and marble look, especially in the White color. The interior of the black car is better. But perhaps Tata is right - there was an interior designer who wanted us to use similar trims in our house, claiming it was luxurious. We promptly changed him - but he has a roaring practice, so may be this too will fly off the shelves. Presume they will introduce the wireless car play etc on the other variants as well, which would be a good thing.

Tata’s gold obsession started with Altroz. Remember all the gold standard marketing? This has taken it to the next level. I hate to say but there is a high probability of this colour scheme being a runaway success, especially because of the additional features.

My bigger worry - Other manufacturers and after market picking up this trend and gold becoming the new chrome

The Safari is a looker right from the get-go. The black looks incredible with the gold highlights. Even the black marble-like dashboard panel looks really nice. But shame because still no AWD. With looks like that and a very competent engine + gearbox combination, AWD would have it eat it's way through Compass and Fortuner sales.

Seriously, why does Tata hate AWD and AWD+AT combination so much?

Great to see TATA innovating and launching products that are quite differentiated from competition. Of course, we do not know if this is going to be successful but it is at least showing they are willing to experiment. Indian consumer base has a very side spread of tastes and you never know what will click. TATA has to be one step ahead of the copy-cat machinery that some other remanufacturers have set up globally, which is so fast that copies of designs and features arrive in the Indian market even before the original cars which invented these features or design elements reach the Indian market.

IMO, TATA should quickly bring the air purifier, ventilated full leather seats, wireless charging etc. to other trims, like XZ and XZ+ to fill these feature gaps. Ventilated rear sets is a killer feature for the chauffer driven and will make a big difference in that market.

Instead Tata should have introduced the true to its name 4x4 version instead of making this gold edition which may not be liked by general masses.

4x4 version would have surely got more customers for Tata. Just hope they do have that plan in upcoming months…

After faux-wood, is it the new age of faux-stone interiors? I sincerely hope this is not a new emerging trend.

The definition of 'luxury' as espoused by the brands like Rolls or Bentley in their interior materials is something completely in a different league. Plastic veneer of marble or granite is not even a poor copy; it is plain stupid!

As for the other features, barring rear ventilated seats, there is nothing that cannot be retro-fitted, or what owners will miss dearly. Not quite sure how many of these special editions will be sold.

Tata should be rummaging in parts bin of JLR rather than being a crutch for Tanishq by clearing their unsold inventory.

However they do deserve a pat on the back for introducing much needed features and not merely a sticker job. That being said I do hope they trickle down the feature set to the lower trims as well.

TATA is clearly reacting to XUV 700 but this may not be the right reaction. Sure there will be a small section that may go for this gold edition but frankly all they did was add ventilated seats and wireless charging. It will not be enough to take on the XUV 700. TATA need to get ADAS and get the NCAP ratings out.

This gold edition will not age well. It is just a quick fix that will keep them in the news for a while. It would make more sense if they just introduced these as optional in the normal range itself.

Whatever said and done, at least TML has given clear guidelines as to what is expected from this New Edition and also the price range.

Even after one month of its launch , M&M have not been able to disclose the features list or price range across all variants, for their new vehicle (which was in the pipeline for donkeys years). And prospective buys are left to speculate endlessly.

In today's world, its social media trends that dictate success or failure. And it seems someone at Tata is keeping track of this. First the name "Punch" now this gold edition. Love it or hate it, it elicits a reaction. To get people to react to something is, in other words audience engagement a tough feat. It's important to make sure people like or comment and not just scroll by, going by the comments here, I think prospective buyers or not everyone knows that a new variant is in town

For now the Ventilated front and second row seats is exclusive to Gold Edition. Wireless charger, air purifier, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity will be offered in XZA+ and Adventure variant too

Tata motors has also used this opportunity to add some new features to the Safari over and above what is available on the current top-spec XZA+ variant. These new features include diamond quilted-genuine leather seats with ventilation on both first and second rows, wireless charger, air purifier, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The latter three features will also be offered on the Safari Adventure edition.
