Isn't the newest generation already selling in most markets? If so, this is similar to the Tucson treatment to our market. The leap for this one to the newest generation is huge.

How I wish they had a Prestige 8 seater minus the VIP seats but with E-parking brake, TPMS, ventilated seats etc. Would have been more bang for the buck in my opinion.

Re: 2021 Kia Carnival launched at Rs. 24.95 lakh

Can someone please tell me what year am I living in? As far as I know it's 2021 but somehow Kia doesn't know! This is what I found on Kia's US website:
2021 Kia Carnival launched at Rs. 24.95 lakh-screenshot_20210916142644.png

How is this the 2022 Carnival if it's available in 2021? I just don't understand.

And this is from Wikipedia:
2021 Kia Carnival launched at Rs. 24.95 lakh-screenshot_20210916142947.png

It says it's the 2020 Carnival.
Look at the different model year for North America which says 2022 - present which means they have come back from the future to the present like the Terminator.

Ridiculous!

It's an old practice from the North American market.

Chicago Tribune article on the subject.

Wikipedia page for Model Year.

It's done by all the manufacturers, Kia isn't the first one nor this is a shocker. Any vehicle launched this year would be called a 2022 Model. For e.g the new Celerio launching would be 2022 Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Octavia that's launched is also known to be the Skoda Octavia 2022 model hence not at all surprising.

As Chetan mentioned below, in North American markets, the succeeding year model will get launched towards the last quarter of present year. So a lot of MY2022 models will be available for purchase in 2021

More than the confusion with model year, where KIA is messing up is in not bringing the latest version of their model to Indian market.
The model CarNerd mentioned has arrived/or showcased elsewhere at the time of initial launch of this version of in India.

KIA doing this second 'launch' drama of an older generation, this late into its newer generation is quite frustrating.
