This is a possibility - purchase in KA but BH registration in some other state. Will check with him.

Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

I got my BH registration from Landmark Jeep South Delhi in Nov 2021 and it hardly took 4 days. I did not even need a form 60, I only produced a company letter stating employment and that they are in 4 states plus the gst certificates. A day was wasted when RTO said that just because the job profile mentioned Director it has a be a company director with name listed on gst certificate. Had to get a new letter which removed the Director word from the job profile and everything was okay.

But surprisingly my RC does not show in digi locker, says chassis number incorrect even though I am entering the same number as on car and the physical RC issued to me.

It takes a day before data is synced across all the servers. You may try after a day. Instead of state transport department link you should try accessing your RC through central government-> Transport department link on digilocker, this will work after a day.

I got it from Noida in December last year. They asked for GST Certificate of the company initially but it was not needed in the end. Just Form 60 on company Letterhead and the address of office in four states along with usual documents like PAN, Aadhar Card etc.

Due to hectic work, i haven't been able to follow this thread and i missed your post. Hopefully the issue is sorted by now. I've detailed my experience in a post earlier in this thread. The registration was done in last week of December and they did not cite any issues then. It should be easier to get it done through dealer and by now the process should be clear for dealer and RTO. I'm afraid i do not want to post my car number on a public forum and i cant DM you yet to share it privately. But let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you for your response :-) .He got it from MH as he had address there as well. I also managed from my home town in UP, mine was a cake walk due to personal influence there. All I gave was just form60 without office addresses in 4 states and got BH in a day.

So your friend could be one of the only two private sector BH series registration holder in KA. Or the vehicle might have been purchased in KA but registered under BH elsewhere.
Trust the bureaucracy to try and kill a citizen-friendly scheme. Any idea why the KA govt is taking this stance?

Has anyone being able to take insurance for BH series registration from any online insurance provider (coverfox/policybazaar etc)? No provider seems to able to provide it. In fact, coverfox recommended taking it from the dealer itself!

Did you mean renewal of the BH register car Insurance policy? That shouldn't be an issue at all. The new car insurance buying anyways happens without the registration number and only on chassis no/engine no details.

I meant the first time insurance. In all the websites, they ask for current RTO (along with engine/chassis number). Is that not relevant? I could not find BH option in the drop down menu.

@abhijeet080808 - You can select the closest RTO, as even if your vehicle is registered under BH series, the registration would still be processed at a specific RTO. Although, I agree that it leads to confusion and the online insurance aggregators might probably update the UI as BH becomes more popular.

Their main argument is revenue loss, KA charges close to 18-21% road tax (including cess and cess on cess) which they get as a lumpsum, and with BH it goes down to 8-12% (excluding GST, but that is a different battle) spread over 15 years. Also, in Bangalore specifically majority of the folks working in IT companies would be eligible for BH and KA would lose out on the tax.

However on paper, they (especially the Transport Commissioner who, atleast on the face of it, is the main blocker for BH implementation) put forth baseless allegations like private sector employees does not have job security cause they are apparently "contract" employees and may not be able to afford paying the bi-annual tax. I've attached a letter which you can read for your amusement that the commissioner has sent to KA Government requesting them to officially stop BH registration for private sector employees.

All the Insurance website do have an option of selecting new car where the RTO details are skipped and you can buy the Insurance with the other basic mandatory requirements.

Alternatively you can ask the Insurance co to send you a quote for the new car and the subsequent payment link. You can still get the Insurance for the new car without RTO details which you can update later in the policy once you get the RC.

Hey folks, recently got my car registered under BH series, but having some trouble in getting PUC certificate from petrol pumps in Delhi. They all seem to be having an issue with the Registration number. Has anybody from Delhi got a PUC certificate for a Bh series car?

Does a new car need puc certificate? I am under impression that the manufacturer pollution sticker on windshield is good for the first year.

You don't need PUC certificate for one year after which one has to test it and get the certificate.
