I paid my renewal tax today. Although my tax is due in Nov 2024, I decided to pay today for peace of mind. No documents were asked.

From today's TOI Mumbai. Have seen Range Rover Vogue & Aston Martin sporting BH plates in Mumbai!

Transport department issued a circular directing RTOs to observe stringent process before issuing “BH” (Bharat series) vehicle registration number to private firm employees. The firm should have at least four offices, applicant should provide proof of residing in places where the offices are, and should personally own a car.

How much would the tax be for a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 (ex showroom price: ₹301,000).

It would be ₹4013.33/- for every 2 years as it comes under the 8% slab.

I got my Alcazar registered last week in Delhi. Tax was calculated on invoice price.

Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

Hi was trying to book a Brezza ZXI AT with a BH registration - the Dealer is resisting, saying it is not possible to get the BH unless my Company gives in writing that I will be transferred in next 2/3 years. All other documentation is fine but Dealer is discouraging BH citing a new circular that is come in Mumbai on 21st Feb 24. Would anyone know or please guide?

You can ask the dealer to share the circular for your perusal, basis which he is resisting the BH registration.

Many thanks clear- however the rule under clause 4 (ii) is rather difficult as i've shifted to Mumbai from another state , worked for 2 years so far- hence am not bale to get proof that one is working in same company in another state..

Point 4(i) is really stupid. This totally defeats the advantage of BH registration. A person doesn't buy a vehicle for 5-6 months. No one knows if they will be transferred or not in the next 5 years. Circumstances can change for anyone.

Clearly these guys don't want private sector to go for BH registration. I guess the fear is losing upfront road tax collection vs every 2 years and hence these meaning less amendments.

From what I remember my SA saying when I was buying my Jimny in Pune is that TCS does not provide employees with the signed Form 60 and hence they are unable to get BH registration.
