Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

Are GST numbers really needed on Form 60? My dealer is asking me to get GST numbers whereas government notification does not mention anything about updating GST numbers on Form 60.

Employment proof, as per Form 60 format along with addresses of 4 offices in different states, is readily available from company portal (IT company). I am guessing my organization would have added GST numbers if they were really needed (since they are providing letter readily with a few clicks). I do not want to bother HR unnecessarily. Also, I do not have any credible reference to share in case HR questions this ask.

I got my car registered under BH series on 8th Sep, 2022 from Pune RTO, so this news is not true. Moreover, check out other dealers since this particular dealer might not be well versed with the process. The first dealer I booked with told me it would take 4 days for the BH number to get generated while the second dealer from where I took delivery said no such thing and my registration number was generated on the same day of submitting documents to the RTO.

Different states are implementing it differently I think. Till some time back, Pune RTO needed GST certificates of four states only with a declaration of presence in 4 or more states on Form 60 and no addresses mentioned on it. But now it asked for addresses to be mentioned on Form 60 and no GST certificates. Check with multiple dealers and check who can give the most clarity.

Is there any information about resale of the BH series vehicle? Can it be sold to anyone in any state or the buyer also has to satisfy certain criteria similar to new car purchase under BH registration?

Thanks.
That dealer was arrogant so to say, high on Kia sales. First this confusion, then they said PDI won't be offered as their car comes to a common yard. Insurance is mandatory from them.
I said forget it, and booked my car with another dealer, despite the first dealer being just 2km away from my home.

Would you care to elaborate on the obvious and not-so-obvious benefits of the Bharat registration please? Thanks.

The obvious ones are that you have a flexibility to change state without worrying about re-registration of your vehicle.

Also, You pay taxes for 2 years on your vehicle that's a fixed percentage and does not vary from state to state.

Since, you pay taxes every 2 years, you won't be paying 15 years worth of road tax upfront when you buy the car therefore you save some amount at the time of buying your vehicle. Further in an event you sell your car in let's say 6 years you paid only 6 years worth of tax on your vehicle.

Not so obvious ones are that cops won't be stopping you again and again for "regular checking" on highways or in cities like they do if your vehicle has a number plate from another state.

A SUV with a BH number plate currently is perceived as a government alloted number plate by many. Infact most folks aren't aware of it and curiously enquire about it.

Ok; that makes sense. Thanks for taking time to answer.

I was reading through the BH registration thread and it sounds like the RTO's are computing the BH taxes based on the invoice amount (as against Invoice minus GST, as is the directive); has that been sorted out yet?

Not so sure about this.
My vehicle was checked in Hubli on way to Bangalore from Mumbai. The cop wanted to see the PUC. When I proved it is a two day old vehicle he let me go.

Agree with you on other points of benefits.

Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

Hi Guys!
I've booked Honda City 5th Gen and have opted for BH registration, the delivery is expected by 1st week of October. Now, my company is reluctant to provide the Form 60 certificate which initially they agreed to, so I'm planning to book the car in my dad's name who is a government employee.

I currently reside in a Noida, whereas my father is in TN.

Is it ok to book the car in my father's name? will it create any issues at later stage?

I'm in a tough situation now. Desperately in need of a help.

Perfectly ok. Your father's address proof should be Noida based. His employment proof must also be from Delhi. TN doesn't do BH registration, as of now.

It depends on the RTO, so some dealers ask for Form 60 in official letter head with GSTN number & locations of the offices located in 4 states along with the office ID card. Whereas, some dealers asks for only form 60 in official letter head and ID card.

It is better to contact the dealer from where you are going to buy the car, also make sure your company is there in the state where you prefer to get it registered.

For government employees, I was in the opinion that ID card is sufficient but when I recently enquired a dealer for the same, it was said that even for Government employees, form 60 along with ID card is required.

All - has KA opened the BH registration for private company employees? My friend is buying a new car and wanted to check. When I bought my Kodiaq in March’22, KA was only allowing government employees to opt for BH registration.

No, it's been stopped, it's only allowed for government employees. A tax cut for those who get paid with taxes.
