Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

Had gone to Jeep camp few weeks back, since then one SA is following up for booking. Spoke with him last weekend, as per him they dont have any information on BH registration. Have anyways asked him to update on this, new car might become tempting considering the significant reduction of tax initially.

Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

Realistically, if the BH plates come to circulation in the first quarter of next year, it is still kind of quick for a policy implementation which has complex process. Many interstate issues will start coming up soon after implementation and states may pause it for a few more months after that.

My feeling is it will take till middle of 2022 to have a reasonably smooth process of getting BH registrations.

Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

Got a call from Jeep dealer in Bangalore. To push for booking, they are saying weird requirements for BH that they say RTO will ask:

1. Proof of transfer in last 3 years ; not seen this being asked by any other RTO

2. Tax being on Ex Showroom Price and not on Pre Tax price (which means the 1.25 multiplier makes the BH series advantage low)

They still do not have a BH seriee price list. Warned about further price hikes in January, to which I mentioned that they just increased prices this month and now Tiguan also have been launched.

To the contrary - it might not work this way. A friend in Pune tried to get her new Nexon a BH registration - the RTO folks said that all offices must be under the same legal entity. They just saw the company name and immediately rejected (Indian IT outsourcing major).

She got a Form 60 from her employer, with all office addresses mentioned.

Asked her to come back with employment contract, and Form 60, mentioning the entity name for each office as well. However, the entity name differs per state XYZ Services karnataka pvt ltd, XYZ Consulting Hyderabad Pvt Ltd.

Still trying to - she is quite resolved to get BH registration itself.

As per the official notification, proof of transfer is not required. Possibility of proof (existence in so many states/UTs) is sufficient.

For the tax part, I informed the sales person about the notification (it involves some screenshots and some highlight on 2 or 3 statements). Then the reply was, "We'll have to wait for the numbers to come from RTO". Anyways, I have received a possible quotation with a mutual understanding if there is a change in road tax component.

Yeah, I will be happy if they sort out all stuff by next year, I loved your "james bond" take on XUV :-)

Good to know about official guidance of documents needed.

Could you elaborate on this part, is it that you have received a quotation for BH registration. If so, is it in line with proposed tax i.,e x*1.25*2/15.

Yes,

I got a road tax figure from the sales person based on their understanding of "the notification". They did it on the ex-showroom price. I pointed out the before GST price part in a screenshot (highlighted the line before taking screenshot). Then I got the price breakup of the ex-showroom price. This included the vehicle price, GST, some other tax.

I added up everything other than the GST, did some calculation. Share my numbers with the sales person. Then we had THE CALL .

Finally, they sent me a quotation with an amount against the road tax component. The understanding here is that the quotation is an estimate. If the road tax has any deviation from the stated, we'll take the difference of the final road tax receipt and quotation amount and settle it.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for the clarification. I will be talking to one of the dealer this Saturday on this, lets see what would be their interpretation.

This can be a issue for lots of firms especially firms which have been merger or bought over. The legal entities may have different names or for firms who have different registered entities in different regions for tax purposes. The names of entities maybe slightly or completely different. I believe if a transfer between these firms doesn't void continuous service then those entities should be considered as one firm.

Re: New "BH" series registration | For cars getting transferred from one state to another

A friend of mine has taken BH registration at Goa on a Tata Nexon towards mid of last month.
They didn't accept rent receipt as local address proof. So he had to get an affidavit.

For a car with showroom price of 9.41, he had to pay 15k which seems approx 2.5k higher as per my calculations.

Since he was an employee of a private organisation, he had to get the Form 60 which his organisation provided.

There would also be additional cess if any on the road tax, registration/hypothecation/smart card charges and road safety tax if any on the first payment. That might explain the difference of Rs 2500.

In KA for example, there is 10% cess on the road tax amount plus an infra cess on top of the 10% cess. Rs 800 hypothecation, Rs 600 registration, Rs 200 RC. Plus an additional Rs 1000 as road safety tax
