Personally, I feel the renderings of Pratyush Rout are sensible and proportionate, including that of the new Baleno.

I am actually quite eager to know more about the "new age Baleno" as they call it and if they have made use of HSS/UHSS for the passenger cage frame.

I hope Maruti answers all the critics with a safe car, its high time!

Drive safe,

Why are people rendering the new Baleno when the actual car has already leaked online ! If you look at the teaser closely it perfectly matches the leaked image.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

Was planning on buying Baleno Automatic purely because of CVT gearbox as against AMT available in other models(WagonR). Now that CVT is no longer going to be offered, does it make sense to buy Baleno instead of WagonR, purely from transmission perspective?

OR should I go and book a Glanza CVT instead?(I guess Glanza is not getting a facelift now)

Your thoughts and views please?

NOTE: Will keep the car for full 15 years. Hence resale is not a concern

I would suggest you to wait for the new Baleno and test drive the AMT unit in that car. If the gearbox disappoints you, you can get the Glanza CVT readily as the Toyota won't be facelifted until next month.

re: 2022 Maruti-Suzuki Baleno, now launched at Rs. 6.35 lakh

So a heavily refreshed Baleno gets the AMT box instead of the CVT offered earlier?

The current on road price of the delta CVT version is around 9.8 lakhs in Bangalore, I’m guessing the refreshed version is not going to get any cheaper, so a 10 lakh AMT Maruti? So Maruti adds many new features and takes away the proper automatic box?

I know cars like the Nexon, XUV300 have the AMT as well, but that’s been the case from day 1! At this current rate, we will soon have almost no CVT or Torque converters below 10-12 lakhs!

Looks like your only option then would be to buy a lightly used Glanza/Baleno, if you don't like the AMT. Do not miss this post:

True except aging Honda Jazz and Polo none of the hatchbacks will have a proper auto box. Glanza will eventually follow the Baleno. This is a big disappointment and the only other option would be electric hatchbacks as a city beater.

I believe even the New Breeza will have only AMT option now.

Add i20 Sportz 1.2 CVT to that, priced less than 10.5 Lakh on-road.

A promotional image from a dealership reveals new features that are highlighted.

2022 Maruti Baleno will feature 7 major updates other than the inclusion of the HUD.

The 8 inch touchscreen thing is incorrect! This Baleno (and Brezza too) will get 7 inch touchscreen for mid trims and a 9 inch for the top trims as per what I have been told by relevant people.

RushLane also confirms the same

2022 Maruti Baleno manual will be offered in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants. New Baleno AMT will come with Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Top variants will get HUD, 9 inch touchscreen infotainment system. Mid variants will get a 7 inch system.

So the 'el cheapo' AMT get's ascendance to Baleno...and to turn attention away from that they'll harp on the HUD display: does that make the Baleno into some high tech jet fighter?? why not get that 6 speed torque converter that's about to be launched on the new Ertiga and Vitara Brezza? Any how the tin can build will ensure that legendary fuel efficiency for the Baleno!!

Aren't they targetting "Class Leading Safety" ? In that sense, it may not be a tin can anymore with heavier and may be more rugged material. This is only an assumption and real results will only come if ever this gets crash tested.

Lighter body panels won't always lead to poor safety ratings, but it leads to such the perception for the onlookers.

Also, if thicker body panels means safer cars, old Ambys would have been 10-star rated cars.
