re: Mahindra reveals new logo for its SUV portfolio

Mahindra's new logo is applicable to which of their SUVs among XUVs, TUVs, KUVs ? Revival is must for name of cars not just logo.

If you want to give statement on a SUV, which some one like our athletic champ Neeraj can promote, then you need a logo which oozes brute power, accuracy, rough terrain, and will to conquer.

Aesthetically it is awesome. SUV message wise it desires a lot.

They will have to bring out separate decal/moniker on each to differentiate between a fine and go anywhere rugged SUV.

I agree!

But isn't exactly that a signature of Mr. Bose? I mean, the current "Safari" is nowhere a rugged go-anywhere machine like the original was (even the old 4x2 Safari/ Storme can take up quite a bit!). If the way Tata's portfolio has changed is any indication, M&M's SUVs will be widely different from what it is today - think polished, curves + sharp lines, monocoque, FWD/ electric. But then the bread and butter models do not have a replacement, so am guessing they will continue to be developed beyond Mr. Bose's influence

re: Mahindra reveals new logo for its SUV portfolio

I like this logo. Looks really modern and might I say, even futuristic. Now, let's see how it looks affixed on the vehicles themselves.

On the other hand, didn't really like the video itself. Especially the voice-over. Yes, I'm aware it's Naseeruddin Shah, and I am a big Naseer fan. But this voice-over seemed tepid — almost like a rough scratch recording, with zero energy.

re: Mahindra reveals new logo for its SUV portfolio

I feel the logo is much better than what everyone was expecting and comparing it to old Maruti logo. Mahindra is always like, one may like it or hate it but it will definitely grow with time.

P.S- I think the voice over given in the logo revelation video is that of Mr. Naseeruddin Shah.

Looks modern and aggressive. Looks like the letter M & inverted M with shiny silver finish. Simple and catchy.

On second thoughts, wouldn't you rather have agile cars than stodgy tanks? I am no biologist, but I think butterflies have good flight characteristics.

It looks ridiculous and feminine for a SUV which is projected as macho or butch due to the size, weight and looks.

Cheers

Bose is a car designer... Logo designing is a specialised field on its own. Why do we make humans larger than life? Bose cannot cook my favourite meal guys.

Well that's like saying Audi logo looks like a caterpillar, merc logo looks like target practice etc. The new logo is classy has clean lines and gets my personal thumbs up.

Perhaps an ode to Rohit Shetty's flying Scorpios quite an Easter egg it would be

That was hilarious! I’m sure even the design team who designed this logo at Mahindra would have a hearty laugh, if they ever see this post.

Anyway, the new logo is good, but to me it lacks any distinct character. It may faintly resemble the letter M, but else I cannot relate to the twin peaks theme and other marketing jargon. Somehow the logo lacks that recall value. A bit too plain, or in an effort to be too different they have gone for something that would not elicit any emotion. At least that’s my take!

re: Mahindra reveals new logo for its SUV portfolio

My initial impression is that this logo would have been good for electronics goods. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with the existing logo as such! Having said that, if it energizes the stakeholders at Mahindra, it would have done its job. As a consumer, it hardly matters to me as long as the product delivers.

This logo doesn't fit with the character of Tough go-anywhere SUVs. More like a cute kitten's upright ears.

Imagine the punch line of "live young, live free" next to this Logo!

re: Mahindra reveals new logo for its SUV portfolio

Need to see this on a car. The graphic looks alright but could have resembled something else other than Wolverine's mask and the old Maruti logo.

I'm also seeing bow ties and butterfly being mentioned. so that whole rugged twin peaks symbolism has gone down the drain.

As a urologist, this reminds me of the pubic symphysis. Or perhaps the motifs on/rhinestone embezzled lingerie!

Jokes apart, good luck M&M. Please do a good job with the 7OO and many more cars. You're India's pride and I'm your shareholder!

I am suddenly missing Planet M shop opposite CST Station in Mumbai. Good old days of CDs and posters!
