There were a lot of posts last week that stated that Ford had discontinued the petrol manual and the diesel variants. I put the rumours to rest as Ford confirmed that the cars were still on sale.

I even received a link to the webpage of the manual cars:

Putting the rumour to rest. Just called Ford. They confirmed it is an issue with the website. I think they wanted a separate page for the AT. The brochure is specifically only for the AT is what I heard.

The diesel, petrol MT and the Titanium Blu variant remain as before.

Let's see when the websites are updated with the correct information.

While the webpage is still active, there is still no link to this site from the main Ford India website. The starting prices still show Rs. 7.75 lakh, which is the price of the Titanium petrol AT. The website still lists only two variants of the Figo - Titanium AT and Totanium+ AT, and the brochure still does not have the petrol MT and diesel variants.

I happened to visit a Ford dealer over the weekend and I heard that these cars are no longer coming. In fact, even the updated price list has only the petrol ATs:

I called up various dealers in different cities. None of them used the word discontinued, but they all said that new cars are no longer coming. However, some said that petrol manual cars, as well as the diesel Figos, will be made available only from Jan 2022.

Do any BHPians have any idea why there is a delay with these cars? Is this due to a production issue?

The same had happened to me when I went to book an EcoSport in December last year.
No new cars were coming due to the variant and pricing changes and dealers started taking bookings again in Jan 2021.

Is it possible that Ford wants to push customers wanting the Figo (are there really any wanting one??) manual in Petrol and diesel to the Freestyle and limit the Automatics to the Figo and Aspire. Freestyle will continue getting a manual for both the Petrol and Diesel, since Ford is adamant on not giving it in the Freestyle with their dumb statement “People buying CUVs prefer Manuals.”

So this is how I am seeing this:
- Figo AT Petrol only
- Aspire MT Petrol & MT Diesel ( AT Petrol is in the pipeline if the news is true)
- Freestyle MT Petrol & MT Diesel.

Sorry for going OT but one salesman told me the exact same words back in 2017. As expected, he was nowhere to be found by then. Same with the Chevrolet dealership he worked for.

Figo had zero dispatches for the past few months, so production issues is quite possible!

On the other hand, Ford ended the 1.5AT's production by December 2020 and has taken one and half year to update the variant, is it posible that they wish to experiment with the MT variants?

Just to add to the discussion, I had visited a Ford dealership last month and they clearly said that due to the Ford plant shutdown induced by Covid situation whatever models they have in stock now they can offer rest all the models can be booked but their manufacturing will not commence at least for 2 months. (This was in June).

In all likelihood I feel there could be a possibility that since Ford is trying to offer 2 of its plants for contract manufacturing they might be using this shutdown to consolidate the assembly lines and trying to make most use of a single plant to manufacture models with higher selling possibility.
