Re: Maruti-Suzuki lines up updated model range for India

I guess just the names of colours have changed and there's no Celestial Blue on the website. Nexa Blue is still there.

Not sure about Nexa blue, but other shades have surely been updated. Checked just now

The all-electric SUV will be larger than the Creta and have a range up to 500km. Slated for a launch in 2025, it’ll be manufactured in and exported from Gujarat.

The Maruti Suzuki version (codename: YY8) will sport a new design language that is expected to be futuristic and radically different from the mundane styling of the current IC (internal combustion) engine range.

Maruti-Toyota’s electric SUV to be wider, have a longer wheelbase than the Creta
To have a 48kWh or 59kWh battery pack, giving 400-500km of driving range
To be priced competitively, even against the Tata Nexon EV
Designed not just for India but as a global car, Suzuki and Toyota have big plans for exporting the model. As such, it will be manufactured in Suzuki’s Gujarat plant for India as well as international markets.

What comes as a surprise, or rather a shock (pun intended!), are the dimensions of the YY8. This is not a compact, sub-4 metre WagonR kind of car many are expecting, but a 4.2-metre long SUV that’s even bigger and wider than a Creta! In fact, for size, it competes more with the MG ZS EV, the largest of the current crop of mainstream EVs.

Like most ‘born electric’ EVs, the YY8 has a long wheelbase, 2,700mm to be precise. Modern electric platforms or skateboards come with slim, flat battery packs designed to sit within the wheelbase for optimal packaging and weight distribution. Hence, a long wheelbase is a key consideration in the development of an electric skateboard as wheelbase length has a direct correlation to the size of the battery.

Maruti Suzuki-Toyota electric midsize SUV: range, battery, motor power
The YY8 is being developed in both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The base two-wheel-drive variant is expected to get a single 138hp motor and a 48kWh battery pack, which is good for an approximate range of 400km under standard test conditions. The all-wheel-drive variant, powered by two electric motors, should produce a combined 170hp and get a larger 59kWh battery pack, which boosts range to an estimated 500km in real world conditions.

It’s not clear if the all-wheel-drive version of the YY8 will be offered in the domestic market or is mainly for exports.

On the other hand, the Toyota derivative is likely to be launched in India with both two-wheel and all-wheel drive options. In fact, the Toyota badged version of the YY8 will have identical specifications, but external dimensions may vary as the design and styling will be completely different and along the lines of the BZ4X EV.

Maruti Suzuki-Toyota electric midsize SUV: price estimate, launch timeline
The Maruti Suzuki YY8 and its Toyota equivalent are likely to launch in India by 2025. Pricing, of course, is one of Maruti’s biggest strengths and there’s no doubt that the YY8 will be extremely price competitive. Sources say that the company is targeting a price in the Rs 13 lakh-15 lakh range, which, given the YY8’s size, specs and tech, makes every other EV, including the bestselling Nexon EV (Rs 14.29 lakh-16.90 lakh, ex-showroom), look overpriced.

3. 400km range for 2WD variant and 500km range for 4WD variant
4. Larger than MG ZS EV, price compared to Nexon EV!
5. Targeted price is 13-15 lakhs
6. Launch by 2025
7. Will be built at Suzuki's Gujarat plant
8. Maruti version codenamed YY8 with radical design, Toyota version to get different exterior dimensions and a bZ4X inspired design

Looking at all this, seems like Tata is going to be the Maruti of EVs only until 2025!

2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga spied undisguised with updated grille.

Ertiga facelift could get a new 6-speed automatic gearbox instead of the current 4-speed unit.

Do not see major changes in this facelift. Are these alloy wheels from Ignis? Image is blurred but I guess they are of Ignis.

I believe these alloys are the same silver ones which are offered as genuine accessory by maruti but painted in gloss black.

Entirely personal opinion but those Alloy wheels on the Wagon R Body look really weird and out of place to me.

No. The Ignis is entirely black and a good design.

This one looks like the official accessory alloys given by Maruti in the Spresso and WagonR.

The test mule of Ertiga that is in rounds was not equipped with Sunroof. Is there any leak or information whether Maruti is going to launch a sunroof equipped variant. Test drove Carens diesel AT yesterday and it was very well equipped. To hold a candle in front of KIA, Ertiga should be very well equipped too, IMHO.

What are the changes though? Black roof, black alloys, black mirrors? Initially thought it might be their “dark edition”. But then, there are no stickers like the usual special editions!

The position of 2nd row AC vents in Ertiga/XL6 will make it difficult for Maruti to add a sunroof. I don't think they will re-position the AC vents to B pillars or somewhere else, at least not in these facelifts.

But I agree, Maruti need to add lot more to the facelifts to compete with Carens.

Maruti S-Presso To Get Updated 1.0L Petrol Engine In April .

Quote:
the K10B engine of the Maruti S-Presso will be replaced with a K10C unit that is also seen on the new Celerio. This unit will also be seen on the upcoming WagonR too.
Quote:
The 1.0L K10C unit will be the second DualJet engine after the 1.2L that comes with Baleno, Dzire and Swift. It does not only offer improved fuel economy but also two fuel injectors per cylinder.
Quote:
With this new K10C engine, the power figure will be limited to 66 bhp with 89 Nm of maximum torque. There is a slight decrease in power and torque figures but the ARAI certified mileage on this one rises thus ensuring an economical run in the cities and highways.
Quote:
The compression ratio too on this engine has now gone up from 11 to 11.5.:1 A higher compression ratio ensures to convert the energy in the fuel to mechanical energy. This should be done efficiently and it also helps in fewer the emission gases.

Any chance of Ignis getting the K12C soon? That car is on my radar but would like to have the K12C and a self centering steering. Icing on cake would be a 3 point seatbelt for middle passenger in 2nd row. I guess I'm asking for too much.
