Re: Maruti-Suzuki lines up updated model range for India

It looks Verna-ish now, with the tapered headlamps and grill combo. Hope they don’t charge a bomb for this now.

Maruti Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 facelifts to get new 6-speed auto (TC)

Quote:
-Ertiga, XL6 and Brezza to get new gearbox with facelifts
-New auto will likely help meet April 2022 CAFE 2 norms
-Expect a small bump in price for these new auto variants
Quote:
Apart from offering the option to shift manually and a sport mode, the added ratios and more modern tech of the new 6-speed auto should help performance with improved shift times and quicker responses, but it will likely also be more expensive and result in a slight price bump for these models.

Moreover, it should contribute to improving fuel economy and emissions – apart from giving buyers more kilometres to the litre in their petrol Maruti vehicles, it will also help future-proof them, and this is likely what prompted the change.
The Ertiga is due for a facelift in March this year, and is likely to be the first Maruti to get this new gearbox, mated to the same 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine.

Brezza will get a comprehensive update, and as for the 6AT, it could be offered with paddle shifters

Facelift of the Ertiga’s more premium Nexa sibling, the XL6, will then follow in May or June.

I am wondering - when the international Vitara hybrid is supposed to get a 6 speed AMT, how on earth Maruti will offer a 6-speed TC on these cars! My guess is, they will launch a new 6-speed manual and an AMT on it.

The 6 spd TC already existed in their lineup. It is just that the hybrid is rumoured to get a 6spd AMT.

The 6spd manual has beend rumoured since 2018. Hope they bring both the 6 spd manual and TC to India.

Waiting for the onslaught. Maruti have received some serious brickbats on every front over the past 2-3 years. I hope they don't disappoint with minimal changes, mere facelifts and sports kit update.

If Maruti can turnaround build quality and safety of their cars, and equip them with segment matching features/frills, they can easily regain their lost ground

I don't really think that Maruti has lost any ground as such. Their sales numbers don't really give out that story, all the brickbats that they have received can be attributed to the irresponsible statements given out by Mr. RC Bhargava.

As far as the 6 speed AT is concerned, I don't have big hopes for it considering how lazy MSIL has been in the past. In a day and age when manufacturers are looking to bring technologically advanced gearboxes like dual-clutch gearboxes to the lower end of spectrum, Maruti Suzuki is happy flogging old tech

Re: Maruti-Suzuki lines up updated model range for India

Wonder they'll add the same gearbox to the Ciaz and the SCross as well. Don't see why not. In fact I'd say those would be some of the most compelling options in their line-up for those who want a slightly more premium experience combined with Maruti peace of mind.

Or will they drop them altogether... Hmm...

Jimny? Fingers crossed.

Few years ago everyone bought a tincan, but now buyers think about crash rating and build quality. I was referring to that

I would love to see an S Cross with a 6 speed TC. I'm planning a car purchase after 2 years and this combination can be on top of my list
