Visibly V & W is now more separated , cost cutting on the brand logo itself is a very clear message.

Once upon a time MS started putting a silver printed sticker instead of an embossed monogram on their Alto, these Altos will be described by their owners as poor quality in comparison to the Altos made before that exercise, clearly that did not go down very well.

Now their Alto has a big sized Alto monogram on the back.

You have the latest logo (2019). It's the only VW logo where the bottom of the W is separated from the circle.

As much as i hate this new trend of flat logo's, a lot of manufacturers overseas design their radar guided cruise system inside the front logo. From this point of view, i guess it does make sense.

The new logo is carefully researched and is based on Schrodinger's equation
If you think it's the old logo it will look like the old one. If you believe it's the new one, close your eyes, believe it's the new one, open your eyes and look at it. Behold! your new Polo came with the new fɒlksvɑːɡən logo

Sometimes these symbolic changes work, more so, internally within the organization. If VW is trying to get the organization to rally around a new war cry of "More color, light and warmth", changing the logo is akin to a batsman taking a new guard after scoring a century. It's a whole new reset. It is like a loud, visible internal memo. Reminds folks inside the company to look at every micro-decision and ask "Will this add more color, light and warmth?"

Changing the logo can have a profound org wide impact, if there is a good change management within and an inspired communication to the external world.

PS: Never owned a VW car or worked for VW.

I took my son over to the local VW dealer today to have a look. Luckily for us, there was an older Tiguan parked next to a 2021 model car in the front. I asked my son on the difference on the logos and he thought I was crazy. Well, actually he knows I'm crazy, I guess this just emphasised it.
Truth be told, it was very difficult to make out the difference between the two logos on the cars. And on first glance, the older logo stood out better than the new one. So you know somethings changed, you just don't know what.
